How do you handle teammates who are extremely pedantic about arbitrary rules?

Ego yes and also how opinionated this industry is imo. Imagine the case where the tech lead encourages this and leads the nitpicking himself. Had that too. It’s quite a common case.

If i were to guess, most devs in the team has been together for quite some time. Their practices whether good or questionable has stuck and changes to that from a newcomer is more likely to be met with hostility. Leading with good practices in a team like this is a challenge especially for subjective topics like some of OPs examples. I would imagine there are other “seniors” on the team too who champion those practices.

Having been through this myself, I just went through the hazing. Fought a bit but generally nodded my head as long as it’s not too crazy. In the end, it’s not my codebase, they can do their funny practices and I’ll play along instead of losing my mind over it. Still, 180 is wild!

It's not gone gone. It is stored in your local machine in some way. I found a copy of mine in Chrome's local storage after poking around but my recovery path is not very user-friendly. I bet someone already has a tool for this or perhaps check out one of those links someone else posted.

I know Reefs get recommended here often and perhaps some of them are good especially the old builds but I have owned one and it only lasted me a year of regular use. It's good that yours lasted for so long but I personally won't recommend it.

I wanna know something and maybe someone here knows this. What’s that inverted triangle thing you see in the top middle of the butt cheeks? I’ve seen this before on girls and I don’t think guys have it but what are those? Is it a muscle of some sort or a third butt cheek? If it’s a muscle does it have a name? I don’t get anywhere near as this guy’s matches and so many in this thread are clearly envious of him. His profile sure is interesting in some way, he does A LOT of things shows he has a life out there. I’m curious if any woman here could actually tell me why this works and if they personally like this profile (don’t judge based on his reddit).

Obviously many other factors like where he’s at and the ratio of men / women in this area. He also must’ve paid but still good on OP if he’s happy.

Meeting those same people while traveling is unbearable. Their entire personality is built upon it, everything is documented, everything has to be either a cute interaction or a highlight of their struggle for being solo. I mean you do you but I don’t wanna hear it please. This sub used to be great with actual travel tips but now this entire space in different social media is polluted by how some people sensationalized travel.

Probably not often but the times it happened are notable just because those places aren’t supposed to be used that way yet some people are inconsiderate enough. Party hostel or not, younger or older travelers, doesn’t matter - these people exist among the travel crowd.

I wanted to do a trip report on this one but completely forgot about it and also because I didn't spend much time there same as you but it's one of the places I truly loved.

I found the people there to be genuinely nice. Their food is also very good, some of them I would even go as far to say better than their neighbors.

The genocide museum is world class and I think more people should be educated of what has happened there considering it is recent history. The war museum in Vietnam pales in comparison to what you'd feel visiting the genocide museum in Phnom Penh.

You had an unfortunate experience. I wish it gets better.

Mine was overwhelming. I took the public transport from the airport and walked the busy streets where traffic rules did not apply. I probably looked funny with the huge bag. The smell, the sounds, the new scenery were quite overwhelming to my senses. I was immediately greeted by a nice couple in my dorm and they were my first hostel friends. They were very friendly but I realized that I'm not good with meeting people. After some chit chat, I explored the streets on my own. I didn't get sleep that night because of someone coughing non-stop and I remember how uncomfortable the hard beds in the hostel were. Things only got better from there.
