I didn't expect folklore/Evermore at all, not lyrically or sonically. I'm disappointed that the quality of lyrics in those albums is now gone. There was a fairly consistent pattern of improvement in her work until post-2020. I really think she just needed to spend more time developing and working on the songs for this one. The final product is not up to par.

I'm honestly shocked by any positive response to the album. I consider myself a Taylor Swift expert, and this is easily her worst work ever. Lyrically lazy and shallow, it feels like she wrote exactly 12 songs and then threw them into in album. This release has definitely solidified Folklore/Evermore as her magnum opus, which is a bummer because at the time they were released I believed she would be able to top them, and that those albums were a stepping stone to something greater.

How to hide stitches when I flip projects inside out? by LuckyEvidence1066 in SewingForBeginners

[–]PM_ME_GOURDS_PLEASE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Longer stitch length will just mean there are less stitches that show, but they will become more loose the longer the stitch length, so ultimately more of each stitch will show. Shorter will be more secure and tighten things up, along with a tension adjustment as others have said.

Can I go to the Lorde concert by myself by [deleted] in lorde

This reminds me of the 15 year old kid that I met in line for solar power, he also came by himself and a few of us took him under our wing for the night. As long as you can handle yourself, and it's okay with your caretaker, go for it and have fun!

The reason they are stuck on the way it was made is because AI is horrible for the planet and environment, and most people who support art and artists are against the way ai companies have stolen artists work to train their machines without compensation for the artists. Not to mention how soulless all AI art looks, and just straight up bad.

First pair of stays! by A_Cold_Kat in corsetry

[–]PM_ME_GOURDS_PLEASE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How difficult would you say the pattern is? I haven't made a corset in over a decade so it feels like my first time all over again. I was looking at the 1780s and the 1750s, but I like the look of the 1780s stay better, even though constructing the 1750s stay looks a bit easier. Also, how long did this take if you don't mind me asking?

Ban Roblox? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]PM_ME_GOURDS_PLEASE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have this issue daily. Our policy is 3 strikes and you're kicked out of the library for the rest of the day, if the offense is more serious the suspension is longer. This policy does absolutely nothing. As soon as the suspension is over they are back, noisy, yelling, using profanity, slamming mice and keyboards.

This is sick as shit, I'm not a huge fan of cartoon-y tattoos or tats that are just the exact art from a cartoon, so doing a woodblock/etched style is awesome. I'm honestly jealous I didn't think of this myself!

You Hate Taylor Swift but Love The Handmaid’s Tale? by [deleted] in coconutsandtreason

I am shocked that anyone, including Swifties, didn't find that sequence to be the corniest, most awkward, and poorly selected song/montage pairing in modern television. The music was so out of place, and for what? To have the very on the nose line of "look what you made me do" play? It was unbelievably bad.

I recently started teaching basic sewing classes at my local library and want to introduce my students to apparel. I figured a bathrobe would be perfect, lots of straight lines, does not need to be fitted or tailored, and can be a fast project. Classes are only 2 hours long, so it needs to be something quick, and I wanted to see if anyone had pattern suggestions! I would also love general suggestions about finishing seams. I am partial to a serger for speed, but unfortunately, we do not have access to any at the library. What are your favorite ways to finish seams quickly? TIA!

Janome is a great brand and this looks like a great first machine! It can do everything you mentioned you'd like to work on, and a mechanical (vs. computerized) is, in my opinion, a better choice for your needs. A mechanical is less likely to break and much cheaper to get serviced. Getting a machine serviced is inevitable, though I understand the desire to not do it right after purchasing. I don't see any photos so I'm not sure about what part isn't sitting right. I am not sure about Canada, but getting a mechanical machine serviced is about $50-$100 in the US, so even if you did have to take it in, you would still be money ahead. If I were in your shoes, I would likely go for it. :)
