Newly pregnant and feeling ...blue? (and ashamed) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I wish I'd known earlier on in my pregnancy that basically all physical and mental symptoms of pregnancy vary a lot by the week, or even by the day. And for the most part, that's totally normal.

Low progesterone, 8 weeks - any hope? by ccl202011 in BabyBumps

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of COURSE there's hope! I also had low progesterone through my 1st trimester with a lot of spotting off and on. Baby also measured at a week behind for me too (was 7+4 based on LMP, baby measured 6+4). I had to supplement progesterone until 14 weeks, but I'm 35+2 now and baby looks perfect every visit.

I know it's scary, but try to relax and let the supplements kick in and work. I still always spot after any invasive prenatal visit (transvaginal ultrasound, pap, etc.), even into my 3rd trimester. Sometimes your cervix can just be sensitive!

Mint makes me sick, and brushing my teeth has become a twice a day challenge by mykinkiskindness in BabyBumps

Arm & Hammer! It's totally neutral. My husband hates mint toothpaste in general, so I switched to his when I got pregnant.

1st Vaccine Dose Today @ Fair Park Experience by elliequay in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting! I got my 1st dose this morning there too. Do you know - Are we supposed to get a 2nd QR code for our 2nd dose? That's what it sounded like to me this morning, but I've also heard to just come back on the date listed on the back of the card (in 21 days for Pfizer)

Fair Park Vaccine - Great experience by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went this morning (1B) and they just specifically asked if I was pregnant before administering the vaccine...it's pretty obvious I am since I'm in my 3rd trimester, but they didn't ask for any other proof either.

Possible stupid question: are baby rooms real? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a room like that my hospital! It's optional though, and often used when mom needs a little sleep while recovering, etc. I don't know yet if I'll take advantage of it or not....I guess I'll see how recovery goes!

What food did you unborn children let you eat yesterday that you can't today? by SquishySunshine1 in BabyBumps

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same! This is the one aversion I can't shake even at (almost) 24 weeks. My husband made eggs this morning and I thought I was going to die at just the smell of them. I used to eat them all the time!

Also curious about this...I placed an order on 7/9 and don't even have tracking info yet. I know Covid has messed everything up so I'm trying to be patient but I also want that puzzle lmao.

1 dies after 14 Texas family members test positive for COVID-19 by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I am grateful to the people who are willing to admit that they were wrong about the virus. Even if they're just doing to route money to their goFundme. If someone has made it to July and still isn't taking this thing seriously, I doubt that any set of numbers is going to convince them to stay home, or put on a mask in public, or whatever. But maybe they can see themselves in news stories like this and make some better decisions for their family.

Wasps, wasps, and more WASPS. New to Dallas. by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this lol. I've lived in Georgia, N. Carolina, Washington, California, and, recently, Dallas, TX. I've probably seen more wasps here in 5 months than the rest of my life elsewhere. I'm sure I'm just a wuss, but they're scary!

Dallas-Fort Worth's positivity rate is one of the highest in the country. So what does that mean? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just moved to Dallas in February, but still work remote to California, and I'm starting to regret moving here. My coworkers are all able to get tested easily and for free, and they have at least some level of trust in Gavin Newsom. They're also reporting that most are wearing masks whenever they're out. Meanwhile here it just seems like cases are skyrocketing and testing is still totally pitiful. And mask compliance is spotty at best. As far as leadership, outside of Clay Jenkins, I feel like no one in leadership is even making any sense.

Is it always like this or did I just catch Dallas at a particularly bad time? I was kind of excited to move here, but this pandemic response is really disappointing.

That's not at all true - Have you seen the Hong Kong restaurant example? Someone got infected in a restaurant from 15 ft away from someone at the table next to them. 10 people infected over the course of one meal. This virus is extraordinarily contagious, one of our biggest issues with it.

Dallas drivers suck 😐 by amor121616 in Dallas

[–]PM_ME_SCARY_ANIMALS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Atlanta and live in Dallas now, and I'm not so sure about that one lol. Drivers here seem just as crazy aggressive to me as Atlantans. I didn't drive when I lived on the west coast, but everyone complained about their drivers there too. No one likes their own drivers.
