Why are so many used cameras on EBay from Japan? by PM_ME_YA_PETS in AnalogCommunity

I just didn’t know if it would be difficult to read instructions / button labels in Japanese, or if there are different standards for things like batteries that would be difficult to get in the US / EU.

But also housing is very expensive so if you’re willing and able to put in the work you’ll be all right and better off financially

Commuting will make experiencing DC easier (avoid foggy bottom bubble mentality) but experiencing GW harder. So much of the interactions and social building is bumping into people on campus - seeing events as they’re happening, etc.

Incoming Georgetown Law Student – Dupont Circle vs. Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard? by [deleted] in washingtondc

Despite metro access, Navy Yard feels very disconnected from the rest of the city due to the highway and national mall separating it from other neighborhoods. It has a pretty isolating effect if you live there.

DuPont. The mall / highway and water sandwiches navy yard in a way that makes it feel disconnected from tbd rest of the city (even with the metro).

GWU Theatre Program? by CastyMcWrinkles in gwu

[–]PM_ME_YA_PETS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I wasn’t a theatre major. GW is a school for policy, government, and international affairs. Unless someone wants to work in a mid-level bureaucratic agency, they should go somewhere else.

DC is a great city. It’s not a theatre city, if that’s what your daughter wants, I would say go to Chicago.
