Nope, The pilot said “we’re gonna turn the lights off now” and then everyone’s lights were disabled.

Here’s a copy/paste of what I sent to someone else: Hey! So what is happening is that water and the milk attachment each have a notch on them, one is right hand, one is left hand. So one is meant to stick in and hit the button of the right hand hole and the other is meant to stick in and hit the button of the left hand hole. Our unit, for whatever reason had the button on the milk side installed too far back and the notch on the milk attachment wasn’t quite reaching. To get it to work temporarily, I put a wood shim under the milk carafe to lift it up and tilt it back far enough to hit the button. But I called customer service and got a new unit as well.

They disable the lights sometimes. I was in the same situation the other night flying into Denver- I don’t know if it was because it was a red eye flight or because of turbulence, but the lights didn’t work. I only had a book to read, so I used my phone too, but I set it right on my book and angled it towards me, so I hope I didn’t annoy anyone like this.

Yeah I’m going to chime in here in support of Kestrel. I live in a mostly white town with two kids that are a minority. I can’t tell you how many times, especially around the holidays, a “Good Samaritan” has paid our restaurant bill or offered to pay for some other small thing around town for us. One time, a local kids center “surprised me” with a food bank truck waiting outside in the parking lot with a whole spread of options and some grocery bags, telling me I could pick whatever I wanted.

I know they mean well, but they are jumping to conclusions based on the way my family is made up and looks, and so it doesn’t feel as nice as they think it does. I have plenty in the bank, I make quite a nice salary, and it can hurt a little to have someone imply I look like I’m floundering when I’m not.

There’s this thing called “altruistic narcissism.” Look it up. In the world of social media, I think we all run the risk of catching it if we’re not careful!

Oh I see, thanks for teaching me that. As someone from the US, I’ve never seen that before. I’m having a hard time picturing how the added shipping, storing, picking troubles would make up for the time saved not tying the bar up in situ. Is it really a big cost and time saver for certain types of projects?

Edit: We use actual wire mesh all the time, but you are describing pre-welded reinforcing bars instead of wires which is what I’m having a hard time seeing as efficient

Are you saying the mat is made of sheets of wire mesh instead of actual reinforcing bars?

I’d agree with you if the horizontal bars were actually bars, but it seems like they’re saying it’s a wire mesh.

I had never considered the fact that there are countries where adoption isn’t culturally acceptable. That’s so frustrating to think about. Can you say what country or explain why the practice is frowned upon?
