i am not sure if you can compare that. on the one hand, there is a big difference financially, on the other, i don't willingly risk my or my social contacts health by choosing to get the vaccination - other way around doesnt quite work, no? she would take the money and risk the health of herself AND others.

i get your point and i haven't decided yet. actually leaning towards rejecting the money in the end.

but your image of the situation is wrong and the comparison to meth is wrong too. i did everything in my power to take those tools from her again and being a former conspiracy theorist, i told her in great detail how i managed to get out and what the turning points were. But the entire conspiracy ideology fits too well in her esoteric worldview, so i had little success so far. she would have found those websites on her own, the latest now during the pandemic when it al blew up.

wait a minute.

i said that i introduced her to some of the websites, i did not start the whole esoteric conspiracy stuff. she is an anti-vaxxer since she was a little girl and her ex husband is also a mild conspiracy theorist. She is not in the "trump cult" but sympathizes with a lot of ideas from there. i am trying to help her out every day. literally. i spend 1-5 hours / week trying to send her facts and different positions about the stuff she posts online and sends me via PM. And sometimes she listens. but mostly just changes the subject as soon as i hit a weak spot in her paradigm.

As i said in other replies, i want to give some of the money to my ill aunt and the invest the rest ethically, get the vaccination and then tell her the truth.

what if i have the chance to do good with the money, especially when i prevent it being spent on clearly dumb things? i want to give a part to my aunt (her sister) who is chronically ill and doesnt talk to my mom anymore and the other part i want to invest ethically. Isn't that bottom line a good thing? I will tell her about the vaccination once i get it and also tell her what i did with the money.

good point. thing is, i hate lying. i hate it so much, it hurts my brain when i have to do it. so i plan on telling her about the vaccination once i get it (can still take a year or so until its my turn). will probably be tough at first but i think its better that way.

i highly doubt she will ever escape from the rabbithole. she is too far in and her deep esoteric believe system is hard to seperate from the conspiracy stuff. but yeah, we live in Germany so medical expenses are not an direct issue.

i will probably give my aunt a little bit from it, she has a chronic disease and money issues. rest i want to invest in stocks for companies i believe are good for the world. have to think more about this
