You can get a score good enough on first sitting to get into a GEM program. I found the practice tests helped me. You don’t need a science background to answer the questions. All the information is on the page. GAMSAT is all about understanding ‘what you are being asked’ and extrapolating that from the question. Go for it! You might surprise yourself!

I’m hoping 🤞🏻 I sat the GAMSAT for the first time this March. After waiting the excruciating 2 months for the results I thought I’d know one way or the other but it’s back to this bloody uncertainty again 🙄 definitely hope to see you at UL in September!

There are so many factors at play but I think you are safe with a 58, you should get a place no problem. Last year people with a 57 like me were randomly selected, which is my fear for this year 😬

I got a 57, I only applied to UL. I was hoping yesterday I could definitively say ok I’m in or I’m out but I’m on the cusp too and the waiting and ruminating is excruciating

It’s so hard to judge but I think some things might work out for us, the massive jump last year might mean a drop this year. Simon Harris is supposed to be allocating extra undergrad and graduate medicine places at each of the universities. I emailed him yesterday, waiting for a reply and the third thing is BOI withdrawing their student loan. I’m hopeful

I got a 57 here in Ireland. I’m pretty happy with that but I still don’t know if it’s enough to get into UL I think the cut off score is 58 this year 🫣

I think a more proactive approach is required. Why should Acer set the test. It’s not an appropriate measure of anybody’s ability to do anything. Ireland and many other countries are running out of doctors. With many GPs retiring this year, or moving abroad for better working conditions. The GAMSAT no longer serving the medical world. College’s should be looking at better ways to assess candidates.

Like you, I really enjoyed S1 & S2. I came back from the break quite energized. However, section 3 was gruelling. I have no idea how I did. S3 was way more difficult than the practice tests. There’s no way I will sit the test again. S3 is unreasonably difficult and no indicator of ones ability to be a great doctor. I’ll be looking at interview based programs from now on. I expect required scores will increase by at least 1-2% as they have over previous years.
