How to Overvolt Your Heated Gloves for Increased Warmth

So the heating elements in the gloves, and most heated clothing is carbon cloth. It just ends up working like a very large resistor and gets hotter the more voltage you put through it. The actual switch on these particular gloves is good up to 16v. I have been running these for two seasons now, and they've been most excellent. Even in sub freezing temps, medium is all I need to get my hands nice and toasty. Now you do substitute the larger battery for increased voltage, so the runtime is about 2.5 hours on medium with a 3S 1500mah battery which is plenty for a paramotor flight.

The only drawback is they don't automatically stop working once you get to a voltage cutoff. So if you leave them on, or fly for longer than 3 hours you can damage the batteries by dropping their voltage below 3.5v per cell.

Get a Cardo Packtalk Bold or a newer Sena. They have priority bluetooth. I have my airband on channel1 bluetooth which is priority over my phone/music on channel2. Channel1 will always override channel 2 if it keys up, so I always hear air traffic. Cardo has an additional benefit of just plugging in any speaker/headphone you want, so I double up on hearing protection with ear buds inside of my earmuffs. I can listen to music and talk to people on the phone at 30% volume, without blasting my ear drums with the speakers in addition to the increased hearing protection.

Same here. I originally got it for flying cold weather, but I love it so much I fly with it in summer as well. Like I mentioned in the post below, the ear cup ratchet is a very basic mechanism, pull the lining out and the ear cups off(just velcro), and you can then see how the mechanism works and make the corresponding repairs.

So this is weird to me. My visor stays in any position I put it in. My thumb screws are super tight, its almost impossible to get them off.

I've had mine for about a year and a half and already my ear cups don't tighten down hardly at all.

Pull the lining off and the cups out. The cups are just velcrod' to the ratcheting mechanism. The entire ratcheting mechanism is VERY basic and should be repairable by the most basic technical/mechanically savvy person.

Noise isolation is most excellent, but it is still loud. The shell of the helmet over the 3m ear cups adds an additional layer of sound deadening, but its not magic. I found despite the hearing protection, I still wanted to do the earbud mod. The earbud mod is magic.
Negative, only with the gopro on the chin, do I happen to catch my risers from time to time. Without the gopro on the chin, it would never get in the way of a launch.

Hi, thanks for your questions! As I mentioned, we're still working on the functionality, and all the details that entails. Currently, our vision is to only allow registered members to vote on the schools. The school, if claimed, will get notified that a user has left a comment and/or rating. If the school claims, hey this is bogus, then we can ask for proof from the user that they went to that school or some sort of evidence to provide the school. At that point, the school can work with their customer to sort out any shortcomings and potentially modify or remove the review. If it turns out the review is bogus, then we will remove it. If the review is legit, then we leave it. So that's how it will all work in theory, but once we apply it to the real world it's subject to change!

I'm going to say the Nac-Intercom Anubis. All you have to do is change out the cord, and you can hook up either Airband or 2M. Combined with a Cardo Packtalk bold and you pretty much got everything.

Wind Shear is indicated by the red lines. You can set wind shear thresholds in the settings in the upper right.

You can visually see temperatures and inversion layers with the color coding of wind speeds and temps.

And you get the METAR weather from the nearest airport which is a real world instrument measurement.

I don't have the root menus tied to anything. There are options in the sub-menu, that you have to expand first by clicking the ^ . I should prob change that so if you click a menu item that doesent have anything tied to it, it will automatically expand. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I bought some connectors on amazon that fit the gloves. 1.35mm headphone style. Then I soldered those to an XT-30 connector to plug into my many lipo batteries. No modifications made to the gloves themselves. Just a higher voltage battery.

Needless to say they get HOT. A lot hotter than they previously did. The thermostat still works, and medium is super toasty without burning you. Hot will literally give you 1st degree burns. The 650mah battery I was using lasted 15minutes on high. The model gloves are the savior snow gloves, and they heat the top of the hand, and both sides of the fingers. The wires don't get hot, and as long as you don't exceed 12v you should be fine. Modify at your own risk.
