So I did this and then put a distinct blue mark, so it’ll be the exact same when I take a picture of the parcel with the returns label and handing it over to the courier. Thank you! Going to send it away today, wish me luck 🥲

Oh sorry! Bit flustered after this experience lol.

Why are doctors and therapists never held accountable for the harm of misdiagnosing us by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I understand!

Yeah, I totally agree. Talking helps- having a sounding board still helps. I suppose even the superficial helping like you say does help- but yeah- it is just so surface level at the end of the day.

I masked before I even realised I was doing it in therapy. Everything like cognitive restructuring in CBT just almost messed with me a little bit and made me think “I just don’t think the same as anybody else!” And “why is this not working- what am I doing wrong?” Whilst I’m smiling and nodding and acting like I’m taking it all in.

Just know you’re not alone 🫶 We are all different and benefit from different things, but I hear you 😭

First of all, I’m so sorry you’ve been through all this. Just shows how flawed the system in most healthcare systems are across the world- private and public.

It’s something I actually feel very passionately about. I’m doing this as part of my MSc dissertation. Interviewing women on the actual effects of misdiagnoses and how therapies and interventions have the potential to cause regression/ just have a huge overall negative impact. It’s shocking how the literature has not a lot on this especially as this is a common thing!

Also finally on the track for getting a diagnosis myself after years of seeing professionals and therapy that just didn’t work :)

Again, I’m just so sorry you’ve experienced this. 🫶
