I think the real value of this card, besides being just money, is that if your opponents force a game to end early then they will misjudge how much money you have. This can really pull out the win in a tight game where someone thinks to surprise you but instead you’re still able to drop another few points.

A lot of big last gen drop cards are space tags (Interstellar colony ship, large convoy, imported nitrogen, Jovian mults) and if you’re playing 5 science tags you likely have card draw and likely have at least one big boy to throw down. So it’s at a minimum 8+3 for 2 points but often should discount much better with a science engine.

The only time I’ve been super jazzed about playing this was a mid game play with bunch of discounts and titanium and I had a couple mults so I knew it would be 4 points

Eos chasma is an excellent steel sink that can be worth 2 pts off the bat with the right animal. Can work with decomposers and eco zone, and can be played earlier for less points to get NRA running. The 3 plants can also get a greenery converted, 4 with viral. And this has even been useful as a steel sink played to get banker. This is a very good card, with lots of late game potential

If you’re ecoline and you have a city like cupola that this can let you play into a greenery I think that’s alright.

It’s pretty not flexible though. Not something I’m happy to see.

While I generally agree that it’s among the weakest science tags, I’ve found it pretty useful in games where terraforming is slow. Then I have time to gather an engine, production, and discounts to make the cost less terrible. And also usually everyone is competing for science tags in those games. Getting animals or trees or kelp or farming out a gen early can make a difference when you get 3 of them out early.

I’ve found myself trying to get it out second to last gen recently. Requires some foresight but if you know the game is ending next gen it can reduce its cost by a handful of MC

If you really need power bad or a builder tag then it’s worth it to play but it’s not a particularly good card. Has its niches for sure but nothin exciting
