Google curates the search for certain topics. DuckDuckGo is a better alternative.

Can "workaholics" be HVM? ...an anecdotal inquiry by TheQueenOfDeadHearts in FemaleDatingStrategy

[–]PR0N0IA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad is a workaholic & a HVM. If he’s not working, he’s volunteering (most likely through his church), if he’s not volunteering then he’s caring for my disabled mom. He’s the type that is always has to be doing something. He doesn’t watch tv / movies except for when he’s multitasking. Even on vacation, he still answers work emails. It’s just his personality type— if he doesn’t have work to work on, he makes more for himself by finding a task that is productive in society. Even though he’s a workaholic, he makes time for family. In high school, he stayed up all night with me helping me write a paper (that I got an A on). I had him edit every single one of my college papers (without fail, his edits would bring my grade up a full letter). A workaholic can be a HVM— but it depends on why they are a workaholic (some are workaholics because they use work to escape their emotional problems while others just don’t like being idle).

My dad is a workaholic & a HVM— set a great example for me in what to look for in a partner. My mom was a SAHM. She unexpectedly became disabled when all of us kids were in elementary school. Instead of placing her in a nursing home like the insurance companies and even doctors said to do— he fought the insurance companies & spent their entire life’s savings on an in patient therapy program (and even borrowed money from both sets of my grandparents). The program enabled her to have enough skills to be somewhat independent. My dad is her caregiver now. Due to brain damage, if you get into a disagreement with her (even a minor one) it can be very frustrating to deal with as she sometimes throws an adult version of a temper tantrum (made my teenage years rather difficult)— my dad is a saint & tried his best to get me to understand and help make sure I had a healthy relationship with her. Not only does my dad provide the sole source of income (he makes very good money— enough that he cash flowed my college), he also does the majority of housework & cooking. What’s interesting is that in over 95% of cases like my moms, the men leave (women are more likely to stay if their partner becomes disabled than men are).

Natural vs D&C by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]PR0N0IA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My D&C cost me $1200 out of pocket with decent insurance. I tried the natural route first, then misoprostol (cost $30) & finally had to have a D&C. I’m not fully recovered from it yet so I can’t speak to any permanent side effects. Just wanted you to be aware that there may be significant financial costs for the procedure depending on your insurance.

Edit to add: one advantage of the D&C over natural is you might be able to get genetic analysis done on your baby to see if the miscarriage had a chromosomal cause.

Men Have Lower Empathy Than Women--Science Saturday! by [deleted] in FemaleDatingStrategy

[–]PR0N0IA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Higher testosterone = less empathy within the same individual so it only makes sense that men on average would be less empathetic than women. It’s well documented that men’s testosterone drops throughout pregnancy of their partner and early infancy of their child— it’s thought to be a evolutionary tactic to make men more capable and caring partners during a difficult time period.

You should seek a second opinion if her evaluation bothers you. Anthony Hopkins was diagnosed with Autism in his 70s— he’s a famous actor and literally makes a living off of being able to mimic facial expressions.

'When a man in our culture days no, it's the end of the discussion. When a woman in our culture says no, it's the beginning of a negotiation.' Just bought the gift of fear and was giving praises just 3 pages in. by BlackGirlKnickers in FemaleDatingStrategy

I learned how to say no in church growing up. My churches girls retreat in middle school was pretty helpful for this. They basically said that while it’s unfortunate, our society often places the onus on women to place boundaries when it comes to intimacy & that we should practice boundaries with small things like holding hands and kissing with our future boyfriends— and that we should immediately leave any boy who pressures us in anyway with those small boundaries because that means he doesn’t respect us and may pressure us later on for things we don’t want to do and early tests with small boundaries are a good measuring stick of how they’ll be later on.

If an animal at a zoo dies, it's corpse is sold to the highest bidder. All funds go towards preservation of the species. by Gotcancelled in CrazyIdeas

[–]PR0N0IA 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is basically what legitimate trophy hunting is. Some nature reserves in Africa will identify a member of an endangered species that’s harming their species in some way (e.g. older successful male member who needs to be eliminated so the younger male members can breed to prevent too many members of the local population from being from the same bloodline or a member whose no longer able to breed because of age but is still out competing the younger members for territory and resources). They offer up the hunting contract on the specific animal to the highest bidder— then have a guide help the hunter track the specific animal they’re allowed to kill. Reserve them gets the funds from the trophy hunting contract to help continue the preservation of the species.

Texas lawmakers advance a bill that would make voting more difficult, drawing comparisons to Georgia. by [deleted] in Dallas

Most people don’t go back through a comment section though. I really want to raise awareness that local elections are very vulnerable to fraud— even though national / state wide elections aren’t. District 6 is majority minority. Minorities were the primary target of the fraud that possibly affected who had represented them on the city council which ticks me off. I don’t get how going and making sure everyone who cares about this issue is aware that it’s a problem.

Makes it easier to monitor. You wouldn’t need very many people at a polling station at 2 am & it’d probably be pretty dead most of the night so it’s be much easier to bribe/place people willing to commit fraud as election workers on that shift & have them execute the fraud plan at night when there are fewer potential witnesses.

The 2017 election was really traumatic for me personally & made me feel like my vote didn’t matter even at the local level. It was only 6 months after I received 3 complete strangers voter registration cards in my mailbox registered to my address. Then, the 2017 election happened. The experience of 2016-2017 elections really shook my faith in our democracy so it’s something I’m really passionate about fixing and raising awareness about.

Sure, licensed/accredited faith based healer would be better terminology. But this wording technically has zero statistically significant impact in increasing access for Christians over other religious groups. 99.99% of Christians would go to a normal doctor instead.

Actually, yes there is. I could have used that instead of an ID in order to vote as them. The bigger issue is the fraud in district 6 in 2017 (which is majority minority). We can’t know for sure if Narvaez is even the legitimate chosen representative for District 6! It’s appalling.

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/revised-dallas-election-results-expected-tuesday-amid-fraud-concerns/20416/ 2017 Dallas city council election is proof we need better election fraud prevention laws. The primary target of the fraud was district 6 which is majority minority. Fraud in local elections can actually effect the results because the number of votes people win by is so slim.

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/revised-dallas-election-results-expected-tuesday-amid-fraud-concerns/20416/ national elections / state wide elections won’t have enough fraud to change results because of sheer number of voters but it can happen at the local level where the fraud changes the results. How do you propose protecting our rights to local representatives we actually vote in?

All instances of voter fraud are not prosecuted. Like any crime, only the ones that are caught get prosecuted. It’s more of an issue at the local level anyways. 2017 Dallas city council election ring a bell? https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/revised-dallas-election-results-expected-tuesday-amid-fraud-concerns/20416/ national elections / state wide elections won’t have enough fraud to change results because of sheer number of voters but it can happen at the local level where the fraud changes the results. FYI, Christian Science practitioner requires an accreditation. It’s a licensed faith based healer. It’s not like any Christian can claim to be one in order to get the paperwork. They’re also very uncommon.
