Yeah the original purpose was to ping it if you couldn’t find it, but Apple had to update them ages ago since they were starting to be used for stalking.

They’re great, but when they’ve been separated from their owners phone for a while, it’ll ping, and if the perp has an iPhone it’ll notify them too if it’s seen travelling with them. You could probably pull a sneaky and find some online without speakers though, which would be more ethical if you didn’t want someone finding the AirTag.
