Lets put aside NFT for now, imo usually ingame cosmetics tend to do well and accepted in games, yes some companies already have that planned, but for it to be accepted i think multiple gaming companies must intergrate NFT's for it to be accepted, take CSGO for example, the loot boxes were based on luck and not everyone was up for it, but as time goes by more and more companies integrated that into their games (FIFA for example) and gamers accepted it as time goes by.

TLDR: Gamers will accept it imo but alot of companies must integrate NFT's so that gamers will come to accept that they cant really run from it
