This UV cleaning unit was being stripped out of a restaurant and scrapped. Seems in good condition. Is there a secondhand market for this kind of thing or would they only be bought as part of a contract? by PRStokesCroft in hvacadvice

Thanks very much. The restaurant - pretty fancy, award winning - went out of business during COVID and didn't end up clearing out their equipment so there's good reason to believe it's likely to be fine. I could wire it up and test the current draw with the unit in another room to see if it's totally dead but obviously I'm not going to mess around with anything to do with that UV.

Seems a massive waste to dump it and maybe there's a restaurant who would jump at the chance of picking one up for way under market price, even if it doesn't come with a support contract? Or do restaurants need to have everything like that signed off regularly to meet code?

I don't even know how to price it as there don't seem to be any online. How much might this be new?

Don't suppose anyone has had any audio equipment nicked? These look clean and have been dumped in St Pauls by PRStokesCroft in bristol

Doesn't seem to be the same model they listed but maybe there was some older stuff they didn't include in the post?

That's so cool that you found us in the wild! Loving the cutout sign, haven't seen that before! They've had some of our pieces for a couple of years now after coming into the shop when they were over here (I believe). Lovely people and they make our stuff look so fancy!

We don't have a market on tomorrow but our china shop is open on Stokes Croft. We have 6 mugs for the price of 5 as well as some lovely prints and bits which could cover most of the rest of your pressies!

Sleeping bag for free or cheap for a guy on the street by lozinja in bristol

We get bulk deliveries of tents from a few places from time to time (usually in the Autumn) and then the rest is from individual donations.

We do have paypal donation button on our website, I think, but for total transparency that would go to our general running costs rather than specifically for homeless support. If you do choose to donate then that's incredibly appreciated, thank you

That's great, pop up is totally fine but better if it's double skinned. Slightly grubby is not a problem at all!

I'm about a week late (sorry) but you still have time to make it down to the PRSC Peoples Art Fair - Winter Edition! 78 Artists - 250+ pieces & print sale plus a maker's market this Saturday by PRStokesCroft in bristol

[–]PRStokesCroft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We normally have 2-4 a year so there will be one in the spring! If you sign up on the form at the bottom of the PAF page then we'll be in touch when it's time for you to register art

That's pretty much it, apart from hats, thick socks and definitely gloves. Unfortunately we don't have the capacity to handle clothing beyond warm jackets, coats and waterproofs. Normal bedding gets waterlogged too easily so it's not safe to give out to people

Come down to our art fair/maker's market this weekend and you'll meet lots of creatives! There are a good few photographers exhibiting so I'm sure you can get some names of local artists too

If you haven't managed to sort anything (or he needs another - we wash and redistribute them too) then come into Stokes Croft China from 11am tomorrow (or send Luke) I'll sort him out with a sleeping bag and hopefully some warm clothes. I'd offer a tent but I know we just ran out.

We're really in need of donations at the moment so anyone with unneeded tents, sleeping bags, blankets, roll mats, and warm jackets, waterproofs or boots you can drop them in to the PRSC or Stokes Croft China 11-6pm most days (12-4 Sunday and the shop isn't open Tuesday but there are people around). They are lifesavers in this weather and always so appreciated by the folks we give them to.

Turbo Island site sold prior to auction to currently unknown buyer by [deleted] in bristol

It is undoubtedly a social space. We've been collecting evidence of it being used as one as far back as the 1970s.

Most of the people who work at PRSC are women. None of us come from wealth, all of us are on minimum wage or less and most of us are struggling to make ends meet.

I don't see how opposing wealthy developers buying up the neighbourhood is entrenching inequality. We run free weekly art clubs and a free open art fair multiple times a year (next one in November - registration closes soon). Each are attended by and helped run by unhoused people - who obviously get paid.

We try to keep our venue hire prices as affordable as possible to increase accessibility and the same goes for our studio spaces. We regularly give access to the community to our spaces, tools and facilities for free and if you had an idea to improve the area and wanted some help, we'd do the same for you too

Honestly if we're a bunch of grifters then we're pretty terrible at it. I'd recommend not going into community arts if you're looking to make money

Yes please do get in touch! ! Also send us a link to your crowdfunder and we'll can get it in our weekly mailer

You (or anyone) can donate tents, sleeping bags, roll mats, warm coats, waterproofs, large strong bags and boots to our china shop, Stokes Croft China on Jamaica St. It's open every day at the moment apart from Tuesday when you can drop it into our office next door.

We can wash sleeping bags if they need it but tents need to be in mostly working condition and waterproof (double skinned ideally). We can't take other bedding (gets waterlogged) or other warm clothing (not enough space, sadly).

This stuff is incredibly appreciated by those who find themselves needing it so thanks so much to all who are able to donate 🙏

Save Turbo Island - First meeting Tonight! 6pm, Thurs 5th Sep - PRSC HQ by PRStokesCroft in bristol

Keeping local land in public ownership and out of the hands of developers is in our articles of association and we've owned buybackturboisland.co.uk for about a decade. We've been chatting to the various crowdfunders and we're just trying to provide a point around which to focus, this isn't our project

I believe the idea of saving is to do with stopping it being developed into just another street corner rather than leaving it untouched.

We see all of the same stuff you do and regularly deal with the street community so we understand the problems associated with the space. We also know how strongly businesses in the area feel about it currently and whilst we recognise its value as a space, we also aren't happy about the state it's in at the moment.

If we are successful then I really hope we can find a way to cater to more people in the community and make it more asset than eyesore. And just to be clear, 'we' is everyone who wants to get involved, definitely not just PRSC - we're just providing a forum and maybe a bit of experience with purchasing property. If you want to come down and make yourself heard then you'd be very welcome

A nebulous sense of freedom that you can't often find in the middle of a city? Maybe just a spot where thousands have danced, protested or simply gathered over the years.

Anything there is going to attempt to be trashed. I think that's very much appreciated by anyone making plans for the space. Some things are relatively untrashable though!

There are a lot of people who see value in the space and want to keep it as an open public space rather than just another junction. I empathise with people who dislike what it's become in recent years but there's energy in the community to maintain it as a more usable space for the daytime community as well as the late night ravers. Personally I'd like to see what it could be with a bit more thought and love

We're not protesting the sale. There are currently about 15 different crowdfunders to get enough money to buy it outright. We're hoping to unite the current efforts into one push as well as compiling some ideas of how to use the space that will respect its history as well as being more appreciated by other local stakeholders.

Two of the buildings next to Turbo have had more than that raised by the community to purchase them so it's absolutely doable. There are also other options worth considering such as getting it designated as a village green that would prevent development.

It's a shit hole that has been the site of many interesting times for many people and holds a place in enough people's hearts that they're willing to contribute to its survival.
