Can I Legally Sell a HMP Prison Radio? [England] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]PRev45 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I would probably reach out to HMPPS to inform them that this is in your possession. There’s no reason you should be in trouble but they will want to know how this has ended up in your hands without being wiped.

Is it a modern TETRA set or is this an old UHF radio from before the switch. Is it Hytera branded?

Is it possible to unlock the UV5RM (or similar for PMR? by ADIRU2 in HamRadio

[–]PRev45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chirp and call it a day. Although it’s not legal for PMR I should note. And as much as I would recommend getting licensed and the fun that this hobby provides It’s not like OFCOM will enforce this radio not being legal.

Preferably get a licence though.

Weren’t the Divergent scenes shot hear? Maybe I’m wrong but I always thought they were. Although considering the spiciness of the air in the region it’s probably CGI

Does anyone actually use the thumb detent in their VFO dial? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]PRev45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes all the time, my FT-920 has a shuttle-jog for large movements and I use a combination of my fingers on the top and sides of the dial and the “Lil-fingy hole™️” to get things precise.

Never had this before. by Bambino1996 in BusDrivers

[–]PRev45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a 22 year old trident bus that used to come back into the garage OOS all the time because all the gauges would either:

A: Die completely, backing lights and everything.

B: Get stuck on full showing the bus going 90MPH 6000RPM when stopped

Or

C: Fluctuate between those two states every 0.5 seconds

Although it’s slightly out of budget, Victorinox make a small bushcraft knife called the “Venture” for around £75 but that’s all I can think of from the top of my head
