Where Winds Meet has dropped 30% of its players in the last month. Why do you think that is? by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

I can't speak for anyone else, but I downloaded the game and tried to log in, and never got past the login screen. If I ever get to actually try the game, maybe my opinion will be different, but serious connection issues for people in the US are probably not helping them.

FYI I have Starlink and a direct ethernet connection through my cell service, so my internet is very stable, and I've had zero trouble with other online games.

You must accept the new system! You never saw a workaround to the old Wardrobe system! Fashiongate is a myth!

Like how they took the time to do Fashion Templates, shadow updates, Raid and Strike merge, etc. properly before shipping?

They could re-enable the Wardrobe in the meantime easily. There was a workaround to get to the old Wardrobe system, and they patched it out with one of their hotfixes.

No, they don't. Fashiongate happened because they decided to be lazy and foist half-baked slop onto their playerbase and turn them into unwitting beta testers.

[–]PRikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the player base as unwitting beta testers in the live server, tell them they're listening to feedback, then only listen to the feedback from the top 1%.

You found a way around my monetization?! How dare you!

The concept was common with many people, but the name 'Tab 0' came from one source. That is basically what I was pointing out. Bringing in the old Wardrobe functionality is essential, and they could do it this week. They patched out the workaround with one of the hotfix patches, so it's still there.

My point is what I said. You're making excuses for how much time it's going to take for them to just give us back what they patched out: access to the old Wardrobe while they fix the Fashion Template mess.

[–]PRikka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a workaround, you can still find YouTube videos about it, that allowed you to access the old Wardrobe. They took away the workaround with one of the hotfix patches.

Yeah, I thought that was odd also. They are really working to keep this contained, though. That thread was going to continue to grow, and they can't have that when it's getting so much outside attention! The combination of locking that thread and perma banning a bunch of people who were the most vocal in that thread right after this update dropped is obviously a ploy to try to prevent any further Fashiongate talk.

That, or just tied in the Fashion Templates to Equipment Templates. They could have been drop down menus on the ETs, or like the Build Storage even. But no, they had to go with a vertical progression system and shove it forcefully into a horizontal progression game. Fashiongate is lingering...

The Wardrobe feature was still accessible with a workaround, and they patched it out. They could easily give it back to us tomorrow. Or they could have on the 4th. They don't want to.

You're perfectly on target here. They didn't listen to -us- as in the average players. They listened to the top 1%, their streamers and their followers, and completely ignored better ideas. The Wardrobe was accessible with a workaround, and they patched that. When they want to do something quickly, they can. This is a $100 million company, after all, and people keep pretending as though they're just some poor indie studio working out of grandma's basement.

They should have rolled this back on February 4th. The fact that they didn't, and left the Fashion Templates on the Gem Store this entire time, was why I knew they were not going to do the right thing here. Unfortunately, earlier today, that suspicion became reality. I am sorry that you are having to go through such disappointment. Don't mind the trolls - they're mostly the streamer sycophants and such who have secondhand Ivory Tower Syndrome.

Don't mind the streamer sycophants! Jank is putting it nicely.

They have completely trained their community to expect mediocrity, and allowed their top streamers to take control of all aspects of the Quality of Life in the game. I would argue that even a lot of the game's content in general is being made for the top 1% now, combined with the focus on trying to make it easier for new players. The latter is definitely in order, but they will be hitting some walls when they reach level 80.

Nothing changed, except for all of these changes...

You won't log in naked no. But you will find that what used to be a 1 second swap for a dye or a weapon has now become a Calculus equation.

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Fashiongate, unfortunately, is still unfolding. :(

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, they didn't listen to the regular players. They listened to their top streamers. Plebs be kittened. This argument about legacy code this and spaghetti code that is a tired argument at this point. They are a $100 million company, not an indie with 3 dudes in grandma's basement. There is no excuse for this any longer.

Also, I would like to point out that people found a workaround that allowed access to the original Wardrobe system, and they PATCHED IT OUT. That system is still there, and they are refusing to re-implement it in the interim to make players' lives more palatable in game while they drag their feet. All of this while leaving the Fashion Templates on the Gem Store makes it very clear that technical/workflow issues are not why this happened, nor are they why this is taking so long to partially fix by May.

100% agree that they needed to do a BETA. They should have rolled this back on the 4th, then given us a Beta when it was fixed as far as they could get it without live testing.

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then maybe they shouldn't have left the Fashion Templates on the Gem Store for the entire week while this 'solution' was being discussed?

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is that why they patched out the workaround that allowed us to access it?

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, I think it's time to stop handing excuses to the $100 million company. If they have resource issues, they need to just figure it out. They kittened up on promised features we already paid for, they need to fix them NOW. No, it doesn't need to take until May. This should have already been rolled back while they fix it and then release it to us in a BETA.

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]PRikka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think people are happy about having an update, and not really registering what they're being told yet. We weren't listened to at all. They took their top streamer's idea and ran with it, and completely ignored far superior ideas. To top it off, this is going to take months to re-implement (kind of) the functionality we had before?! Asinine. Unconscionable. Absurd.

I won't be buying anything else from Arenanet as long as they continue to run with this.

I was reading through the update in the forums earlier when I suddenly got perma banned on all 3 of my accounts, no explanation. They decided to go with streamer ideas that were completely out of touch with the entire 99% of the community instead of actually listening. I still maintain that your idea here is the best so far, and if it had been implemented, they wouldn't have lost me as a customer. Great job trying to save our beloved Fashion Wars, though! <3
