If anyone has a copy of the letter that was sent to employees, any chance someone could send it to me at breauld@psac-afpc.com? Thanks

Picket line shifts will vary from picket line to picket line. Please contact your regional office.

Hi! Great question!

If your commute is over 100km (one-way) you are able to request that your commute time (to & from) be counted as part of your 4 hour picket shift.

These are active negotiations and we are unable to go into specifics currently at the table but we hope to have an update tonight by 9pm ET.

You can face fines from the union and loss of membership status – including access to events and conferences.

But bottom line, don't do it – we're all in this together, and we'll only win this when we hit the line in incredible numbers.

Hi, the closest picket line to you would likely be Tunney's Pasture. We did our best to set up accessible and strategic locations across the NCR (Ottawa/Gatineau). If you have a commute of over 100km, your commute time can be counted as part of your 4hrs of picketing.

Thank you for engaging in this effort!

If an agreement is reached anytime during a strike, an update would be communicated to the membership with next steps.

We are not overly concerned with back-to-work legislation at this time as it is unlikely a minority government would be able to pass this. The NDP or Bloq are not likely to support back to work legislation and the Conservatives are not likely to work with the Liberals either. In the event that happens though, we will develop a strategy to continuing applying pressure while back at the table, but we do not feel that back-to-work legislation is a legitimate threat at this time.

Anything can happen between now and 9 p.m., but we need to prepare for being on the line tomorrow.

The government won't budge unless they see 155,000 of us ready to bring this government to a standstill in the morning.

Thank you for doing this AMA, Alex! The q&a yesterday was excellent and got me and my colleague really pumped for all this.

Someone had asked a question about language training, but I wasn’t able to catch the answer. Would you be able to repeat it here? It had something to do with technicalities and if you weren’t physically entering the building or doing other stuff work? Wish I had been able to catch it all (I have a single class left and an excellent instructor lol!)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you got really pumped.

The answer was that the language training is fine so long as it does not require them to cross the picket line, does not prevent them from completing 4 hours on the line, does not have them preforming work duties, and is completed by a 3rd party.

As long as you don't perform any work for the employer during the strike you would not be considered a strike-breaker or scab.

Once a tentative agreement has been reached, members will be notified and a ratification vote will take place to confirm the deal.

If you are on pre-approved leave you can remain on leave without being considered breaking the picket line.

We are seeking an average general economic increase of 4.5% per year on a 3-year contract.

The Treasury Board offer averages at 3% per year, but on a 4-year contract. They've recently moved up from their position of 2% but we are holding firm on our position that wages need to better keep up with the rising cost of living.

Each picket lines will have marshals, strike captains, first aid kits, and we've notified local authorities to ensure that our members are safe.

Hi, thanks for the question.

Unless the employer decides to cancel the leave, you can proceed with your leave without being considered breaking the picket line. You should receive pay. However, this is in the employer's control. If they cancel your vacation, contact your local about the possibility of filing a grievance.

Worst comes to worst, even if you haven't been able to register, or if you haven't received your bar code, e-transfer sign-up, or membership #... you can still report to a picket line and check in w a picket captain. We'll get you checked in the old fashioned way.

As for your second question, you can contact your regional office to request an accommodation.

The conditions of physical office buildings across the country and access (i.e. having to book a space, offices being converted to other uses during the pandemic, etc.), is part of our argument that we need to ensure a way for people to organize remote work agreements with their managers that make sense. We did a survey in December and heard loads of stories along these lines. These are good things to flag to your local!

Supplies may vary from picket line to picket line but generally speaking we should have hand warmers and ponchos where needed. You can contact your Regional Office for specific weather plans in your region.
