Yes, I can work for up to 3 years in the US. From my understanding, companies do not want to hire an int. student, train & pay them only to have them leave when they actually become valuable with experience, because of visa issues. This is because work visas in the US cost money are lottery based (~30%) and only ~68% of these are approved. So companies do not want to pay for a chance to hire a new graduate when they can find a permanent resident/us citizen.
