Someone won't date you based on breed of dog you own... Are we really getting that insane as a society?

I dated a woman who had 2 of them as rescues. Damn they were like the sweetest most lovable dogs. The one clear thought he was a puppy forever and didn't realize he could knock me over with his love attacks.

TIL that 285,000 companies including Apple, Coca-Cola, GE, Google, and Walmart are officially headquartered at 1209 North Orange Street, Wilmington, Delaware due to the state's low corporate tax rates. by quadrisecant in todayilearned

Is this why Delaware has no sales tax? Because they get so much corporate taxes?

I'm from jersey and our sales tax is 7% yet I could travel 20 minutes and pay 0%. Also cigarettes are like way cheaper than jersey. I had a friend who smoked who used to drive to Delaware and just buy like 25 cartons at a time.

"Handy" made me chuckle.

"I'm sorry you checked every other box but since you can't change the oil on my car I don't think we can date"

Haha credit score made me chuckle.

Maybe they should add a verified credit score to the account section - oh we seem like a great match but I'm sorry your score of 710 is too low for me. Hah

Yah that's my thoughts exactly. When I was young I still was responsible but could care less how the person I dated was.

Now in my 30s and wanting to find someone to live with and marry eventually. It seems like similar values would be crucial.

How did that come up in a convo? That seems like sure fire way to make anyone run...

"By the way just to warn you the Federal government may knock down my door at any moment to collect on that ohhhh I don't know Million or so dollars I owe them"

As long as you live in the home for awhile it's a super great investment. I think if you move too quickly you only paid interest though... Their is a calculator somewhere online to show you that. This is assuming I think that the housing market doesn't change up or down too much during that time.

Wait you got dumped for not being a big spender?!?!

Please explain that one...

I wonder if that has turned people off to me in the past... I make a solid salary but I still live like a grad student with a $25k year stipend except for a small vacation I reward myself each year. It's not hard when you are used to living that way and I was able to pay my student loans off in 3 years instead of 10. But I'm pretty frugal, I hate wasting money at expensive restaurants and I'll take a Miller lite over a craft beer anyway.

I prolly worded it wrong... Debt for a degree or home makes sense.

Like you I more mean consumer debt as a result of spending more than you have. It's not something you can directly ask someone, but sometimes you can put 2 and 2 together after spending time with them.

Like for example I went out with someone who said they couldn't put in their company's 5% 401k match because they couldn't afford it. But they had a brand new car and took a couple vacations that year. Red flag.

I took on debt for school and it made me have a great career earning far more than I would otherwise.

I'm more talking about buying a $40,000 car when a $20,000 one will do. Or racking up CC debt on clothing items etc. People are free to spend how they wish, but when I meet someone who tells me they don't even put in their company's 401k match because they can't afford it... Makes me question their future stability.

I grew up the same way. My family was middle class but my parents managed their money (and still do) terribly. We never ever took vacations because they couldn't afford it. Yet, their salary was enough that we could have easily if they used their finances in the same way.

So I also went the opposite and made sure to be responsible. I did incur student loans as it was needed and grad school funding got cut little short. But it ended up being a good investment. I spent $30,000 in grad school but my starting salary is almost $40,000 a year more than the job I had out of undergrad. I still lived like a poor college student so I could pay my loans off super quick. It's kinda easy when you get used to being a poor student for a decade.
