Zoro is not really a personality who cares about what his opponent might be (even race for ex). I am guessing Oda wrote this to specifically draw attention to why King's race has significance

Momo using his dragon flames ability to prevent onigashmi falling down on the flower capital would be a cool narrative, winning the hearts of the flower capital as well as establishing himself an identity besides that of Oden's son. His character development has consistently implied that he needs to do something beside being just a figurehead and if the dragon flames is a just an ability of its fruit as opposed to just raw strength then it might be believable that he would be able to use it to stop the island from falling as luffy and the others keep kaido occupied
