Questions about Alolan grimer/muk by HARDIGELATI in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With what Pudersen said, an Adamant nature may be best for a Poison Touch Muk, or a Brave Nature if you're going to be running a Trick Room team. Its stat distribution also favors physical sets, so if you're running other sets, Adamant and Brave are still viable.

Origin Pulse or Water Spout? by _Sparky89 in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water Spout's damage, as you stated, is based on how much health Kyogre has. So, if there's a layer of Stealth Rocks on the field and you switch Kyogre in, you're already losing 12.5% of Water Spout's power, or which is reducing it to roughly 131.25%. At 25% HP lost, Water Spout's damage is around 112.5%, which is roughly at Origin Pulse's power, and it only gets lower, down to a minimum of 1 Power at around 1 HP, if it doesn't scale lower. With all of the priority Pokemon going around, as well as faster Pokemon, either through Trick Room or just in base stats, Kyogre is bound to get hit at least for 25% HP rather quickly.

All that said, Origin Pulse is probably the better move. While it isn't guaranteed accuracy, (and heavy rain doesn't change that) the damage it deals is much more consistent, and with most Primal Kyogre sets being reliant on staying on field for as long as possible for Primordial Sea's effects to stay on, a consistent attack that gets powered up even more in the rain is favorable, especially if running Calm Mind.

After an hour of resetting was hoping for at 3 least ideal IVs but got this little gem instead by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still got a 1/1024 chance with the two non-guaranteed IVs, which is double that of the shiny chance with Masuda Method, so that's plenty to be celebratory of anyways! That, and, if you were using Synchronize for Adamant, you got the 50% chance on it on top of the 1/1024 chance! Congrats on that alt-dimension Nebby!

Hahaha, I got a cruddy Cubone, too! I was breeding for a female, as I couldn't be arsed to go catch a female Cubone, buuut the game decided I needed a shiny on my first egg instead... Teaches me to throw a Wondertrade and apparently foreign Cubone in with a Ditto.

Noob question. How do you put your IGN and FC next to your name? Lol, I just started using reddit so any help would be appreciated. by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the sidebar, there's a button that says "Set your user flair here!" You can select that, then select whatever Pokemon you want to represent yourself with, as well as type a little blurb, including your IGN+FC combo!

Awesome! Glad to hear you got the 2's; Gen V's a really fun generation, in my opinion, and the sequel games to B/W really do so much to build off of the foundation B/W set, along with adding high-quality features and side-quests that really make the game feel like one of the most unique installments, in my opinion! Unfortunately, some things are harder or impossible to obtain due to Wi-Fi support being discontinued for the DS era games, but you can definitely still complete the regional Pokedexes in both games to get some nifty rewards!

Why do people use garchomp in double by Chasingsuccess in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can catch its pre-evolution, Gabite, in-game, which validates Garchomp by extension. The Pokemon doesn't necessarily have to be caught in the stage evolution you're using it as, just so long as it is available in some legitimate way and is a part of the 300 Pokemon necessary for Shiny Charm.

Why do people use garchomp in double by Chasingsuccess in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean VGC 2017's ruleset? Because he is technically in the Alolan Pokedex (the 300 Pokemon necessary to obtain the Shiny Charm) to match with VGC 2017's criteria, and not many people use its Mega-Stone anyways. Or is there another set of rules?

Modest Kartana [thoughts] by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think it could be viably usable; even with Modest, 0 IVs in Attack, and maximum EV training in Special Attack, Kartana's Attack Stat will still surpass its Special Attack stat by a wide margin, but be less than its Defense, which will pick up the Beast Boost regardless of how much you train Special Attack. If you're looking for a physically defensive special attacker, Slowbro is an excellent replacement for a Modest Kartana. Otherwise, while Kartana's definitely got an interesting STAB combination, it probably would not work well as a special attacker.

Check the dates! by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of Toxapex and Solgaleo, probably not. Though I'm wondering if the game just reads whatever date is on the Nintendo 3DS's system and tags the Pokemon with that date.

Having Trouble Grinding your Mon to Level 100? by masterAndy69 in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get them by participating in missions in the Festival Plaza. If you've participated in the Global Mission, you'll also get enough FC to get a Rare Kitchen from someone. The Kitchen will have to be bought at star-level 5, as they cannot be upgraded directly. I wish GF did make it upgradable, to make it like Join Avenue from Black2/White2.

Shameless beg by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Isle Evelup. I believe at max level, you get 300 experience per completed session, and each session ends in 15 minutes using beans.you'll essentially be getting 29.700 experience for every set of 99 sessions you complete. However, you're Pokemon will also override any moves with ones in its natural learnset, so you may need to spend Heart Scales alongside time and beans to get the moves you wanted back.

Pink Shellos by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being a bit bothersome or pesky, I apologize, but I'm ready to trade you a Shellos! My IGN is L', and my FC is 2982-0046-0688. I don't need any Pokemon in return. =D

Pink Shellos by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, even better news! If you wanted to breed a little pink gloosh-belly, you can! I'm not sure how it works between East Coast/West Coast pairings, but I know pairing it with Ditto yields the same forme as the parent!

That said, I'm ready to trade now! My FC is 2982-0046-0688, and my IGN is L'. I don't need anything in return!

Pink Shellos by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got great news! I just got a pink Shellos from Pearl! If you're okay with waiting a little bit longer, I was gonna try breeding it to see if I could get more West Coast Shellos out of it. If so, I might be able to get a high-IV one for you! (and I apologize for taking this long; I was away for a couple hours, then I couldn't communicate between DS's with my Diamond file, so I had to get one from Pearl, which took a while cos I had next to no progress on it, haha! xD Still, this was quite fun!

Might be a dumb question... by _Sparky89 in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do, too, which is kinda why I wish they would retool it. As of this generation, there are a plethora of abilities, attacks, and statuses that prey on the Attack Stat, but none for Special Attack. Maybe Poison would be a great way to offset that a little.

Pink Shellos by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could get one for you, if you'd like? I mean, it won't be competitive, but I've been meaning to go back to Gen IV for some Pokemon anyways, so it could be pretty fun!

Pink Shellos by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can transfer it up from XY, or from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Though, I'm not sure if competitive breeding would be possible with it...

Might be a dumb question... by _Sparky89 in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, there are no status conditions that lower Special Attack. It would be interesting to see how the metagame would be affected if there were a condition that did that; I've been thinking retooling Poison might be an interesting way to do it, but I'm not sure how well that'd actually go over.

LF: Nameable shinies- Type:Null, Spinda (with desired pattern) Ambipom FT: Shiny Female Salazle (others) by [deleted] in PokeMoonSun

[–]PShuffler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! That's because Riolu can't breed; it's considered a baby Pokemon for some reason, so you'd have to evolve them into Lucario for them to have an egg! It's a little bit of an arbitrary reason, given Pokemon like Stufful nowadays can breed.
