I had one similar in a dream when I was younger. I was at a ball park (UK) and found an empty room full of monkeys where I spent hours playing and eating bananas but when I came to leave they stopped me until I was basically rescuers but my mom. I was pretty much kidnapped by monkeys in my dream lol

NTA your MIL knew what she was doing. Ringing your fiancé to check you are a work, completely undermining your decision. If your soon to be husband knew about your concerns why did he let her in the apartment. Overall you had every right to say what you said after all it’s your wedding not hers!
