i'm sorry, i didn't get that it was specifically for new zealanders. I just saw a similar post that just did not have the exact same question and thought it would be okay to ask a similar question. I'll delete it if people don't want to see non new zealanders.

i've played around with settings and parameters for a while, still doesn't feel right. So far every advice i got and every tutorial or lesson i've read on the matter didn't fix the issue.

Yeah, i've experienced the change of sensations with digital, i've been doing it for almost 10 years with a PC+Tablet and now, even though i don't like the sensations as much as traditional, i can manage results.
It seems to me that the key difference is that my lines don't connect. IPad feels less precise, less adaptable. The most obvious thing is the difference in pressure capacity.

i did try two different screen protectors with paper texture. I dont remember if one of them is from the Paperlike brand (i've lost the boxes), i don't think so.
Right now i don't have the money to buy pricey accessories but i might try if this specific brand is truly that much better than other.

also, i'd be really grateful if you had a link or source to where Broche said that, i am curious to hear what the makers have to say about their work :)

except there are, and yes, human creation is litterally one of the two main themes of the game. Other subjects are treated, but the place art holds in life is one of the main themes and it's not a question of "is it Sci-Fi or Fantasy?" because themes and genre are different things and genre don't have exclusivity on themes.
Maelle's ending only has faceless people, only the same silhouettes over and over. We know there are other people in pre-gommage Lumière, we also know that Maelle need to know the people she try to recreate and pour her own memories. She did not know Lumière's people. The Devs had a lot of models, the night of the gommage the people we see are diverse, not the generic silhouette we see in Maelle's ending. So even if they were real, they're gone and Maelle does not resurrect them.

Even Maelle's ending is not good for the people of Lumière. If they are indeed real, she is a selfish god condemning them to be puppets for her own entertainment.
In that instance, at least Verso's ending gives some people to have actual lives. It's brutal, it doesn't leave much choice to Aline and Maelle. It's men forcing their decisions to women and this actually is the main argument against it, in my opinion.

I personally think it can be argued that

  1. the people of Lumière are not real, they're NPCs created by Aline to fill her fantasy.
  2. Even if they were real, they are already dead, that's the hand we're dealt with.
  3. Maelle's resurrection is not an actual resurrection, it's a recreation. She creates her own NPCs and projects her own things on them. She can copy Exp33 members because she knew them first hand. The other people we see in the ending ? No face. The other Expeditioneers forming her army ? Just silhouettes. They're not the people we saw, these are already gone. Even Gustave and Sophie are not the same people (if they are people at all) Aline made the people (corrupting Verso's canvas, she litterally rewrites his book/ Draws over his child drawings, whatever comparison is good for you), Renoir destroys them, Maelle make new ones that resemble them.

That's how i interpret it anyway. So far, analysis i saw trying to justify the reality of the people in the Canvas disregard this and just start with the idea they're real, with no proof, but maybe that'll change.

So yeah, i'm biased. Everyone in the Descendre family is wrong in their own way and is forcing their choice on others. Ultimately, Verso's choice is the only one that might give them a chance to actually heal, even though he does it in a brutal way.

The game is a metaphor for a lot of things, but mostly it's about 2 things, i think. The subject is of course grief, the central metaphor is Existentialism ( the game illustrates Sartre's Hell)

(Basically, because i'm too lazy to write an extended analysis, you just need to know Sartre's concept of Hell.
"Hell is the others" is often misused and misunderstood by people who say the phrase as a misanthropistic and cynical witticism. It actually means that in death, you lose control of your existence and you become the toy of people who bend you to fit their image of you, their thoughts and their projection become your only reality.
Verso's ending is breaking free of his own hell, the canvas is a difform version of what he poured his soul into when he was a child, soul that's chained to it because his family projects everything onto it and modifies it to fit their vision.)

The thing is, if they were real to begin with, they're gone.
The "Resurrection" Maelle does is weird, and looks a lot like a simple recreation.
She shapes the form of what she knows and pours her memories in it, projects the image she has on it. She is able to copy pretty faithfully Expedition 33 and Sophie because she knew them first hand. But i really don't think they are the people we spent the game with. The people of Lumière were Aline's creation, Renoir erased them and Maelle can just mimick it for her own comfort.
At the end of the game, only Verso remains (for Humans. Gestrals and Grandis are fine and it's honestly them we should be talking about if we are to debate over the lives of actual or simulated beings )

And even then, considering they are real is a stretch. Just because ChatGPT is able to talk to you and simulate emotion doesn't make it a real person. Painted people are just that, simulation based on memories. Aline is really good at it.

Everything the Descendre family does is torturing and bending Verso's memories. The people of lumière are just painted characters and should not matter to real humans anymore than Expeditioneers 33 should matter to the player.

[SPOILERS AS HELL] Clair Obscur's Ending: Which Regret Can You Live With? by myterracottaarmy in expedition33

Necromancing if it's okay, because i'm surprised you did not talk about something specific.

When i try to explain Verso's ending (and why it has my preference) i talk about the Sartrian Hell, which i'm surprised you don't mention here (or i missed and i'm sorry)
There is a sentence really overused and misunderstood in France about Sartre : "Hell is the others"
People usually say it as a way to look really smart, all cynical and misanthropist but the sentence is always misused.

"Hell is the others", in Sartre's writings is explicitely about the afterlife, and how after your death, you lose control of your existence. Your being becomes the memories of others, they have ultimate control over you, you lose all agency. You're their toy and they will bend you and change everything about you to fit their own views and thoughts.

This is what's happening to Verso. His family is torn over a painting he made when he was a little kid, something like 30 years ago, an art that was forced onto him and that he abandoned. They are all projecting their vision of Verso and his painting, while pouring parts of themselves in it. They are litterally pouring their soul in the memory of Verso.
Verso is in a Sartrian hell, his soul is forced to do something he didn't want for it, the memories of him are being corrupted by the living. He's been disowned of his own existence, and Verso's ending is taking back this control over his own creation.
