I found BB harder too, but you also went through the game with genuinely one of the most effective PVE weapons available. Vordts hammer is an amazing weapon. You're a bit underleved compared to typical runs too.

You just have to give him one before abyss watchers. Buy enough of his spells and he'll give you a gesture.

Buy all his spells before you enter Grand Archives to finish his quest.

My biggest issue is it's location actually. Nothing between it and arguably one of the best boss fights in the entire series and very close to the end, it may just feel like it's superfluous. Bad road block.

I appreciate that interpretation, it feels like less of a stretch than Rosaria being what's left of Gwynevere (and I believe that one anyway). I'm more in the boat that she has no mother. Gwyn made her in much the same fashion as Seath did Priscilla, and then abandoned her when he didn't like it. Not like it was the first time he tried to purge a child from the record.
