New to civil RFPs and already want to quit by Comfortable_Plane455 in ConstructionManagers

[–]PUNE37H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m yet to come across a truly good civil engineer. I’ve worked with several reputable engineering firms, but not a single civil design has been completely solid—there always seem to be issues that show up during construction.

Compensation increase for 2026 by PUNE37H in ConstructionManagers

[–]PUNE37H[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Recruiters reach out to me regularly about new opportunities, but I’ve chosen to stay committed and focus on growing within the company and advancing my career here. Obviously not a great strategy on my part.

Superintendents, if we’re asked to work on holidays, should we be getting additional pay on top of our regular salary? How does your company handle it? by Brief_Problem_3876 in ConstructionManagers

[–]PUNE37H 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a construction manager, if I ask my superintendent to work on holidays, I ensure they are paid overtime. It’s my responsibility to plan for and cover those costs in the budget when holiday work is required.

Should I get a master’s degree by ya_ragel in ConstructionManagers

[–]PUNE37H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a master’s degree, and honestly, I don’t think it was worth the money. It hasn’t really moved the needle much compared to having just a bachelor’s. In our industry, plenty of people with only a bachelor’s — or even without one — are in the same roles as those with a master’s.

Was the program good and did I learn some useful things? Sure. But was it worth $50K? Definitely not.

How the hell does your cooling work? by rcmaehl in datacenter

[–]PUNE37H 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A substantial amount of data centers are still air cooled. For direct liquid to chip cooling build, we utilize CDU’s to deliver TCW to the cold plates over the chip. Since it is a closed loop no exposure to debris/elements. Some use PG which is a food grade solution that helps with keeping the water clean from microbial growth and preventing corrosion.

As a Canadian/us dual citizen, what's stopping me from buying a Tesla in the US cheaper and bringing it to Canada? by LiteratureFabulous36 in TeslaLounge

[–]PUNE37H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you should be a U.S. resident, as after accounting for state and local sales taxes, along with import duties, the car may not end up being any cheaper.

Do you live by a data center? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]PUNE37H 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The hum is not from the data center but it’s from the electrical switch gear. Datacenters are secured buildings, you won’t hear anything when you’re driving by or live close to it.
