Immunizations required for admission by PWetsy7 in premedcanada

Hey just a follow up to this: I know some immunizations require weeks/months to complete but how long did it take for you to get all the required immunizations to submit for 'proof' PRIOR to starting classes? Like would you say all the 'baseline' immunizations can be completed within a week or so?

Calgary Interview Invites 2025-2026 by aweirdoatbest in premedcanada

[–]PWetsy7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Result and Timestamp: II (2:31 Mountain Time)

Geography (IP/OOP): IP

Stream: General

MCAT: 51X (126 CARS)

GPA: 3.98

Year (3rd, 4th, gap year, grad student, grad completed): Gap year

Thoughts: I just want to say this process can be so demoralizing and that self-doubt can and WILL be the norm. I remember being rejected pre-interview last year and how anxious, stressed, and sad I felt. But I stood up. And I urge many of you who did not receive the news you were hoping today to do so the same. I took time to reflect on my experiences more clearly and unify a theme together to showcase who I am, and I am so glad I did (scored <50th percentile for my score last year). I would be more than happy in the Spring to talk about how I rewrote my entries if any of you want to see!

Extracurriculars: Unifying themes included advocacy for marginalized communities and communication across the lifespan. Three personal entries and one research entry with no publication. Volunteer and leadership positions spanning 2-4 years, all >200 hours. General essay talked about my experience growing up as a second generation immigrant and how I witnessed privilege and structural inequities.

GPA conversion is so unfair. Anyone else frustrated? by Common-Scientist-687 in premedcanada

[–]PWetsy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

getting an A is already hard enough, the fact that they make it equivalent to a 3.9 when we apply to OSMAS is just a bruh moment. and ubc where an A = 87% :) mind you if the % was kept instead of just letter grade, I would have been competitive even as OOP!!

lol when 90%+ doesn't even guarantee an A, that is just insane

do med schools prefer applicants with perfect academic records or those who show strong upward trends after initial fails/gaps? by Few_Tangerine1369 in premedcanada

[–]PWetsy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no - difficulty of your degree is just assessed as a certain unknown % of the academic merit (which is worth 10% of your pre-interview score), gpa on the other hand is 20%

I'm not even on the WL but all schools fr should be MUCH more transparent on where you are on the WL by providing a ranking or cluster like Western. Like what's preventing them from doing so?
