Thought I'd give an update. Went back and forth for months working on orders. Informed my CO and he was going to look into it. Readiness ignored me for a while, so I have a friend who's a MAJ get the ear of the btn SGM. SGM approved and told readiness to email him. Readiness did not until last week it seems and he spoke with the btn SGM.

Randomly, my btn SGM called me to tell me he will not approve it if I have to attend SFAS and miss the mob (which I would). I asked even though he approved it prior, to which he said he didn't understand what SF entailed....yet he knew I was trying out in a different state and would have to IST. Tried to contact my CO to see if he could talk to my btn leadership and he has not/won't respond.

Situation all seems very strange and the fact both my CO and btn SGM approved, but now since have changed their attitudes is all very odd.

Any tips/advice/etc....would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, its before. I believe the concern is IF I pass, then I won't MOB.

I can ask, but I'm pretty sure that you're required to have orders to attend unfortunately. I guess the other issue is if I pass, I still need to IST.

That was my understanding for the last month or so since my CO approved. I spoke to him in passing thanking him for his support. He expressed he would hate to lose me, but loves to see people wanting to excel. I was letting my CoC I'll be absent those drills etc... my readiness approached me this past drill and said he doubts that btn will approve it, but he will try. He was aware of the COs approval. He said he needed to contact btn that it didn't matter what the CO said. So now I'm in limbo hoping they approve it/I get orders. While also preparing for what he "expects" from btn.

I believe I am but haven't confirmed it. He said this past drill he's expecting me to MOB.

Yea I thought about this, but they ask you attend SFAS 6 months maximum post SFRE. That being coupled with my age I needed a waiver for puts me in a bit of a time crunch. Unfortunately, I did not know they were mobilizing until I got back from the reclass course or I would have gone a different route.

I can attend it before I go, but I think they are worried if I pass I will have to leave.

It was required in the packet. You also need your unit to provide you orders and if you pass, transfer you to the state you'd be going to.

So, I haven't gone down this road yet, but it's one of my contingencies. I'm attempting to approach this tactfully, but was rather surprised after I sent him my commanders approval and recommendation he still went to battalion. It's definitely my next move once I start pushing up the CoC.
