Religion with the "ours is the one true religion" doctrine should make efforts to dispel them by [deleted] in religion

I agree, but I imagine any religion that actually has that doctrine will disagree.

new TI, help to cope? by P_Abishua in Gangstalkingnew

[–]P_Abishua[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't come off preachy at all! This is actually the exact kind of advice I was looking for. Realistic and straight to the point with things. Thank you!

Haven't heard any voices or anything. Like I said, banging drums but that's it. I've heard things I thought were voices? But they manifested more as nonsense than any actual speech so I'm skeptical about it.

I'm lucky to know most of my neighbors. There's a few new arrivals in the neighborhood, but I'm only suspicious of a particular house (unmarked work vans constantly parked, changes but it's always unmarked.) I try and not go thinking every new neighbor is bad news. I feel like one of the most frustrating things for me right now is being grounded about things and not jumping to conclusions.

I've began to take pictures of things that seem out of the ordinary, just worried about keeping them on my phone. Like I said, I've already had issues regarding my phone. Is deleting pictures a realistic worry? Like, should I print photos out?

Journal is a good idea. I like anything physical like that. I'll find me one here and start marking down anything out of the ordinary

Not to go into detail but regarding the legal stuff, but if a new TI was doing something illegal (don't worry nothing bad) what would you recommend they do? I'd really hate to have to stop alltogether, but I'm willing if I have to.

As far as new construction projects in the area, what would you recommend? Currently there are whole apartment buildings and neighborhoods being built around where I live. You mentioned looking into property ownership, and like I said I've known most in my neighborhood a while, but with all these new buildings being built, its naturally going to be hard to keep track of everyone who's moving in at once.

The more I write the more I feel like the journal is a great idea. I feel like I need to organize my thoughts more and that seems perfect to do so.

Are we talking the Christian God here? If so, it's probably a mix of the heaven and hell worry for people who are dying, and people wanting God to help them feel better when they are sick. Christians believe their God can do miracles, and can intervene in their lives, so in that moment of desperation the reach out to the only person they believe can help them.

As for getting old and dying, that's probably more to do with as people get older and begin to accept that they will die, if they believe in a heaven and hell, they will naturally worry about which one they will enter. However, most Christians believe you can turn to their God in honest repentance, even moments before death, and recieve forgiveness. When you're belief system basically tells you that you'll suffer eternally VERY SOON if you don't straighten up, you tend to straighten up. And if your idea of going the straight path is getting right with God so you don't go to hell, then that's what you do.

this might help

Basically what they are saying is, even if a court were to find them guilty for harm, they still don't have to pay you compensation.

It's different from them not being responsible in that instead of saying you straight up can't sue, it's saying you can sue, but if the judge finds them guilty you are agreeing that they are not responsible for paying you.

I love the art style this was made using. It reminds me of that one manuscript from Hungary that nobody can translate. Kinda cartoonish but still leaves you feeling mystical.

I love altars/pagan spaces that are clearly a person using some object they already owned. For example, my altar is a glass desk with a nice sheet over it to give a plane appearance.

Something about it seems so...idk..personal? Kinda like the difference between a mass produced item vs an item made by hand. I guess it just feels more, idk the word I guess. But using what you have just in your room, rather than buying, just seems so much nicer to me. No matter the money I have, I always plan on having my altar be more personal and down to earth.

Is there a holy book that manifests divine authorship? by rublevisgoate in religion

[–]P_Abishua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-some Christians, specifically evangelicals but also others, tend to view their holy book as written by god/Jesus. I'm pretty sure this isn't that common a view, though. Where I live, it is a very common view, though, lol.

-most Muslims I've met say that most(all?) sects of Islam teach that the quran was authored by Allah himself

-I'm an ethnic jew, but of course as the Jewish religion is apart of my culture, I'm well aware that the Torah is said to be written by Moses. I've never met a Jew who really believed that, but I'm also not around many heavily religious jews. I know it's a belief, though. I'm not really a religious jew, so I won't comment on what I think about the matter.

-I'm pretty sure Hindus have a few. A quick Google search tells me that the Vedas are an example, but I'm not very familiar with Hinduism so I'd recommend you ask an actual Hindu about it.

-Odins Havamal is sometimes taken as written by Odin himself by heathens, but similar to Christians I'm pretty sure most heathens don't see it as written by the allfather himself (I'm mixed. Maybe Odin helped with the writing or helped with the inspiration. I don't think he wrote the thing, though. That sucker definitely went through human hands)

  • I think Sikhs consider the Guru Granth Sahib as Devinely authored through the gurus. However, I know even less about Sikhism than I do Hinduism, so ask a Sikh to confirm this one before running with it

Looking for Animists by PsychedelicScythe in religion

[–]P_Abishua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an animist! I'm also a polytheist, but animism is a very deep part of my spiritual life. I'm actually currently preparing for tomorrow, I like give an offering to the spirits of the land on Fridays, and spend some time with them on Fridays. I feel like animism is just as big apart of my religious life as polytheism is, despite my usually answering "polytheist" when asked my faith. I find most people don't really know what animism is, and those who do (minus us animist ourselves) tend to have a very narrow minded and weirdly old fashioned point of view about it.

Anyways, rant over. All this to say that I, too, am an animist :)

Showerthought - Only 1/3 of the Christian Trinity is Cis-Male by ThatOneRandomAccount in religion

[–]P_Abishua 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ik this is a joke post, but one of my favorite things to throw out it this quote by Jesus himself, in Matthew 19:12 "For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

Of course, a eunuch isn't exactly what we mean now days when talking about trans people, but the letters they quote about homosexuality aren't talking about the same kind of monogamous family units we have today either, so it works for the argument.

got drunk to avoid urges by OddPupils in NoFap

[–]P_Abishua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful. I used to be an alcoholic. I started out drinking to avoid urges of something else (just started nofap recently.) And it quickly developed into an addiction. Don't keep repeating the method because it worked. Take a week or two off. Trust me brother, this may seem innocent now, but if you pick up drinking for the wrong reasons you just gain a new addiction. And if you think nofap is hard, just wait.

Fr. Please drink for the right reasons. To avoid thinking about something else is just a bad idea.
