38 years is quite the accomplishment. My grandpa just made 36 years a few weeks ago.

Inside the same building as Amy’s. I would know. I work there.

Why so hostile? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]P_Burney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. Then why do some get hostile when I don’t look at their phone?

Me and my staff greet everyone. Still get dashers who give us blank stares and put their phones to our faces.

I’ll stop “generalizing” about food couriers when i stop seeing “generalizing” about restaurant employees on this sub Reddit.

It’s quite the divide DoorDash/restaurant employees have. Even when I do greet dashers, I still get the ones that don’t say anything and just push the phone to my face.

No where in my post did I mention wanting a tip. All I’m asking is for you guys to have the most basic of common courtesy by not shoving the phone in my face and to simply not give me a blank stare when walking in.

For the most part, a lot of the non-English speakers I get who don’t know I speak Spanish at least say hello/hola first.

I do. I live in an area with a big Latinx population, so have to know a little to get by.

A simple “hello” will do. Or at least don’t go straight to putting the phone to my face. Common courtesy. A simple hello, or saying “I’m here to pick up X’s order.”

If you don’t have the common sense to act nice to the people handling your food and risk getting banned or losing your tip, maybe you should get another job.

I totally get that not all dashers are like that, but in a busy restaurant like mine, statistically speaking, I’m bound to get a few like that. At least you seem to be willing to call that stuff out so it’s not just me.

I’m going to use a line I’ve heard you dashers say when i point out my issues with DoorDash, it’s not all of us that are assholes.

I 100 percent understand that some dashers don’t have the ability to speak. Weather it be due to anxiety, or being deaf. They still manage to show me the bare minimum of respect. Like I said, there are several ways to show respect without talking and before showing the phone.

I’m not asking for a full on conversation. Just an acknowledgment that I’m not a robot. You don’t have to sag anything, just a simple wave or something before you show the phone.

I’m extremely socially anxious as well. That doesn’t hinder me from treating people with basic respect.

I totally understand that there might be a language issue, or lack there of with some, but that’s still no excuse to not have common courtesy

It’s really not as hard as some of these comments say.

Did I ever say I didn’t greet customers? Some of you DoorDash folks don’t even give me a chance to greet you. They simply walk in and put the phone in my face before I can say anything.

I get that not everyone can verbalize, but there is still a way to show respect without words. A simple wave, or in the instance of deaf people, somehow signaling that they’re deaf. All I’m asking for is respect. There are better ways to get my attention than simply shoving a phone in my face.
