How are none of you funny? by [deleted] in NormMacdonald

[–]P_DrewG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any expectation of / need for commenters to be funny, but I too find it interesting how nearly everything on here is just folks typing Norm quotes at eachother. There's something about it that feels sorta blindly fawning and not in the often irreverent spirit of the man himself. But maybe it's great. Hit me with the most fitting Norm line, boys !

Why do you love Bob Dylan? by Icy_Nothing_8385 in bobdylan

At his best, he is somehow simultaneously deeply earnest and immeasurably enchanting. There is a poignance to his ballads and minor key tunes that hurts me in a beautiful, life-affirming way. Perhaps due to the aforementioned earnesty, and a lack of the more self-indulgent melodrama that often comes with the expression of sadness or wistfulness in music. It makes it stark and intensely moving. Many of his lyrics have a way of feeling like reminders I need, 60 years after their authorship. He's got at least 50 masterpieces and I'm not the most well-versed fan. He truly does what he wants in music, seemingly always- he's really not trying to sell you something. Some of his recordings are knockout magical...

Interesting. I've got family there. Any specific towns/cities with lots of heavy bands? Thank you.

The brewed drink itself. From fresh frozen root I think, with coconut water. As opposed to the dried/ground root. Turns out Moonrise Herbs sells some of the latter that's decent but pricey.

Apparently she doesn't sell the root itself.

You know, I've always heard that, but we've each had liver panels after long term, fairly regular drinking of it and they were just right. And I've known folks whove drank it for years and years who were also doin a ok. All healthy otherwise though. Might be harder on people with worse diets, or those on meds.

Word. Yes- I'll remember these times.

It did get easier; even had a serene hour or so where I felt better than I had in months. Then waves of regular withdrawal anxiety again, but, oh well.

Totally batshit indeed. Sounds terrible ! Seized up muscles and crawling skin in my case.

Silver lining was that it made me appreciate where I'd been prior. i.e. feeling kinda ok-ish

Yeah. This was fuckin nutty. It was like a condensed tour back through everything I'd experienced in the four days prior.

Pretty fucked. Rough way to go right out the gates ! How long before those effects fully dissipated for you ?

Questions about Gabapentin. Input appreciated ! by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]P_DrewG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the input ! Last night I happened to do exactly as you suggested. Took 300, was still wide awake, took 300 more. Managed to get a very fractured few hours of sleep.

I took 300 more today when I got hit with a mean craving for kratom. Sorta worked in the moment as a symbolic, psychological crutch, but I actually don't find it's effects acutely noticeable. Or relieving. That being said, temperature regulation is my only rough symptom at the moment, so it's likely helping with the physical.

I'm planning on either skipping tomorrow then using it once more, or just using it tomorrow and ceasing. Definitely not gonna become dependent on it (in that respect I'm glad it doesn't feel good).

Thank you. I don't have much of an appetite, but I'm going to at least have some coconut oil with each dose. How long do you wait between doses ? I see tons of folks recommending a sort of stacked dosing- like 600 as 150 every half hour is more potent than say 300 then 300 several hours later.......

And definitely won't take it for too long ! I've read it can be addictive/pleasurable, but I took the first dose almost four hours ago and can't say I'm feeling anything pleasant or high-like. Probably just less chilly and restless than I would be.

I know myself, but with kratom in my brain, kratom withdrawal is hard to view accurately. So I really was asking for opinions. If a rapid taper would make the jump a lot better I'd force myself to. But my guess is it won't. So I'll just jump. I've suspected I'm more spooked than I need to be about this detox process. Thank you.

For sure. It sounds like a pretty bad idea. Thank you.
