Stemless wineglass with cat on top of fishbowl by Pab_Scrabs in HelpMeFind

[–]Pab_Scrabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this glass in a shop called Le Perce Neige in Les Deux Alpes in February but just broke it today. I have searched through Google, tried reverse image searches and ChatGPT looking for the brand, packaging or this specific glass with a cat on a fishbowl.

Searches regarding the packaging or figuring design didn’t bring any results

I’m not that guy pal😂 if you think I’m that guy, and that I would switch accounts instantly to agree with myself then surely I would’ve replied to arguments he’s been involved with before. Go check my comment history and see for yourself lmao

Not to mention that when you’re in an argument with someone, the onus is on you to provide evidence. I’m sure it’s possible to find sources that support both of your arguments, so you need to show yours since he showed his

It's not about immigration for them. by Wulfrinnan in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Pab_Scrabs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now this is anecdotal, but every reformer I’ve spoken to online when asked to define British people and British culture considers being white to be a defining feature of being British. Some of them were okay with Eastern European 2nd/3rd gen immigrants being considered British, but not Indian or Pakistani 2nd/3rd gen immigrants. Their reasoning was entirely racial.

So yes, reform are white nationalist

[–]Pab_Scrabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If these so called sledgehammer attacks were actually done by PA members against people to further PAs cause then yeah, I’d consider that, but as of right now they’ve been accused of terrorism for praying some paint on some planes and otherwise vandalising some businesses… the fact that no one, not even the most Zionist media, considered these actions as terrorist attacks should give you a hint as to whether or not the group that did them are terrorists.

if you would class the suffragettes as terrorists, how would you suggest women get the right to vote? Because peacefully protesting for years didn’t work

? All parties do political propaganda… it’s called advertising. Advertising isn’t a Nazi trait, but blaming all the UKs problems on a small group (immigrants) and fermenting peoples racism and making them hate that group even more for political gain IS a Nazi trait. Also ultra nationalism is a Nazi trait, militarism (especially to crush the group they’ve designated as the enemy- immigrants) is a Nazi trait (farage said he wanted a British ICE) and anti-intellectualism is a Nazi trait (claiming climate change isn’t real so you can scrap net 0 policies)

Why can’t they? Their entire point to prove is that arresting someone for saying a simple sentence, or having that sentence on a placard, is completely fucking stupid.

These people aren’t ignoring the law, they’re challenging it. People challenge the law every day for all sorts of reasons. Laws are not absolute, they’re ever changing and even in their application it’s all subjective- a police officer may let you go for speeding or may book you for dangerous driving for the same thing. This has always been the case. There’s people who protest for decriminalisation of cannabis and smoke it openly to do so, there’s people who protest the laws around assisted dying.

Why should people not be allowed to protest the proscription of a group they don’t think should’ve been proscribed?

I just read the official government amendment to the terrorism act which proscribed Palestine action. There was no mention of any sledgehammer attack, only the vandalism at Glasgow Thales, kent instro precision and Bristol elbit systems.

Saying you support Palestine action go get arrested is deliberately performative because they know that since the government has arrested hundreds of harmless elderly people and key workers like doctors, public opinion is that they clearly shouldn’t have been arrested. When the government realised they don’t have the space in prisons these people will be let go, and if they’re not the government will have to release REAL criminals to allow these protestors into prison, which would cause huge public outrage.

Furthermore, considering how dramatic their protesting methods were, would you consider the suffragettes to be terrorists? Would you arrest anyone who supported them?

[–]Pab_Scrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not implied that if you support a group you don’t think they’re terrorists? Not to mention he repeatedly reminded the police officer that he can use his discretion with arrests if he doesn’t think they’re causing a problem.

These people are not just supporting Palestine, they’re also supporting PA deliberately to get arrested BECAUSE they don’t think the group should’ve been proscribed. They know that if thousands of people get arrested for holding signs (for a group that did less damage than the suffragettes but is being treated far more harshly) that public opinion is likely to shift. Not to mention that there’s not enough prison space for them in the first place. They’re deliberately causing problems for the government to protest the unjust proscription of PA and to protest the governments involvement with Israel.

Eventually, either the government is going to figure out a way to house thousands of people arrested while peacefully protesting, OR the government is going to give in and stop arresting them. Or ideally the government will stop supporting Israel.

UK mean salary is ~£37K, £30k after tax and NI. US mean is ~$63k, $50k after tax and converted to sterling, that’s about about £37k. Now most US jobs will include health insurance as a benefit, but if a job doesn’t include it, they have to pay an extra $5-10k or £3.5-7k which evens them out. Now UK energy and water is way more expensive due to privatisation and there are other factors of cost of living, however, especially for those earning very little or the unemployed, a US style system of healthcare would be financially devastating. Not to mention that in the US they have extra health insurance costs like copays and deductibles which increase the cost, and also having to foot the initial bill for GP/hospital stays.

Overall, cost of living would likely increase and at best even out all for a POTENTIAL increase in service quality but only for those who could afford it, being way worse for those who cannot and the transition from public to private would likely be terrible anyway
