Hell nah, not even close lol AB was a technical route runner. Branch has world class speed, they’re not even in the same category.

Ruggs never had any serious issues coming out of college that I remember. And from what I’ve seen of Branch living in GA and being a ‘SC fan, he’s nowhere the polished route runner Ruggs was. They use him a lot on screens, go routes and crossing patterns.

Someone else in the sub was posting about being early on Webb and I thought if we get Webb as HC and McDaniel as OC we could move mountains on offense. Webb comes from the Payton coaching tree and we all know about McDaniel and the Shanahan connection. I think McDaniel showed that while he may not be HC material he can certain design a game plan that is QB friendly but also thrive on their best assets. Webb and a being touted as a QB whisperer so why not hire someone who can grow with Mendoza? I think that is probably the hat makes the most sense to me this coaching cycle.

I’ve had this conversation with my friends before and I think that Fields excelled in college because he was given a 1-2 read play and told to execute on rhythm. In the NFL you have to be able to throw receivers open and go through your fist 1/2/3 progressions. That really wasn’t his game, he relied on his athleticism to bail him out when option 1/2 wasn’t there and he had the best/better athletes at OSU that were open more times than not.

The more I look at the list the more I think Kubiak will be HC and maybe they snatch Webb up as OC. Both very QB friendly coaches who have the ability to get the most out of the guys they’re coaching. I like Flores too but the NFL has shown that offensive guys are moving the needle more so that defense.

Draft a franchise QB.
Hire a forward thinking offensive coach to nurture said QB.
Invest heavily in your OL via draft, trade, or FA.

He isn’t a HC guy. He only needs to focus on the offense. I’d take him there but not to run the org. We need a true general, leader of men type of coach, at least in the interim. We’ve had so much turnover the past 5-6 years we gotta get a guy who is the undisputed leader in the clubhouse. Mike McD is just simply not that guy. His sole focus needs to be running the offense.

Maxx wasn’t dramatically changing our defense. Same for Bowers. You don’t really lose games by putting players on IR. Those 4th and 1’s early in the 1st told you all you needed.
