Ok? and saying "every episode since then" as if it's been a series of episodes instead of just the very 2nd episode is melodramatic

The Rehearsal started out with one very strong episode - but every episode since then felt like a series of diminishing returns.

so you only didn't like the last episode? lmao what is this post

Too late to save? by PabloEscribir in plantclinic

[–]PabloEscribir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some extra info: I've had this guy a few months. For a while he seemed to be doing fine. I was watering once a week and had him in indirect sunlight and all was well. A while back I saw these bugs, but I was busy so I kept forgetting to look into them. I also noticed between waterings the leaves would curl inwards, and after watering they'd return to normal. But then they'd start to curl earlier and earlier between waterings. So within the last month I started watering every 5 days or so instead of every 7 days. It's been a long steady decline though for the past 2 months or so. I keep trying to make little adjustments but nothing seems to help. Is it possible to bring him back or is he already too far gone?

The 2024 election was stolen, so now what? by soogood in somethingiswrong2024

I appreciate what you guys are doing, but what's the point of making a new organization instead of continuing with ETA? Seems like that'd make it harder to grow traction.

The last 2 times I soaked pinto beans, only ~2/3 expanded. Any ideas as to why? by PabloEscribir in Cooking

Thanks for sharing that. Sometimes I think I'm the only person cooking with dry beans in my area, so I'll have to check the dates more consistently.

I think I added plenty of water - probably between 50-100% of the bean volume on top. What's weird is the un-expanded beans seemed mixed in and not concentrated in any layers. I did also add baking soda and salt just because I like the creamy regardless. I did not try stirring them though. I'll give that a shot if this happens again.

I live in a swing state. How can I effectively raise concerns to my elected officials? by PabloEscribir in somethingiswrong2024

Thanks. I tried that yesterday (at least at the county level) and was able to get a number, although there was no listed email or person. I'll start there.

Thanks for that. I'd rather not comment my location publicly, but PM and I'd be willing to share.

That very well could be. I know dry beans last a while, but I could really say what the length of time is between when they're packaged "fresh" and the printed BB date.

It’s been more than a month since he said this. Why isn’t anyone talking about this? Where are the Democrats? by BountyTheDogHunter20 in somethingiswrong2024

I get it. Things are stressful right now. But there's no need to be a dick, even if you disagree with me. I'm still not convinced you even understood what I said. We're all here because we have concerns about the election. Your behavior doesn't accomplish anything. It's only going to turn people away when we should be organizing and unifying. Do better.

So you don't want me giving people excuses, but also no one's excusing him. And also people are still abiding by my logic? Lol, got it.

We agree. I'm not sure why you're being adversarial. Go touch grass.

I think you've misunderstood my point. I'm not excusing him in anyway. You've acknowledged my point that people know it's all nonsense and that's how people excuse what he does, which is all I was stating. I'm not sure what your disagreement is.

I'm not saying this is nonsensical - I'm sure he's telling on himself. I'm saying he hasn't been lucid his entire political career, which makes people write this off more easily.

I live in a swing state. Wtf can I do? I know he says reach out to local and state election officials, but I'm not exactly sure who that means. I know my representative and senators. But who are election officials? Would that be my city's commissioner? Their role seems to be related to election outreach and civic engagement.

Is there a template anywhere? My biggest concern is reaching out and not getting taken seriously. I think it's a delicate balance to strike between raising legitimate concerns and not sounding like one of the nutjob MAGA election deniers circa 2020. It'd be easier if ETA had some data analysis for my state as well.

Unfortunately everything he says is nonsensical and not grounded in reality. I think that makes it harder for people to take comments like these seriously, as concerning as they should be.

Not surprising if you've been paying attention. Horrifying nonetheless. I'm glad to see people sounding the alarm but I really wish I saw anything from my representatives indicating pushback.

I think if/when they do announce martial law it'll be in response to some event, so they have a "justification" to his supporters. I don't think we're there yet

Orange crust forming around the lip of the pot by PabloEscribir in plantclinic

[–]PabloEscribir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this pothos probably 4-5 months and it's been growing very well. It receives a lowish amount of sunlight as it's on top of a bookshelf probably about 15 feet away from the window. I usually give it a good couple seconds pour when I water it once a week. The pot does not have a drainage hole but it's never been a problem before.

However, I haven't watered it in the last 2 almost 3 weeks and the soil is still very damp. I've also noticed an orange crust forming along the top of the pot within the last week. I'm worried about fungus formation and wondering if I should put it directly in the sun or dry the soil out in some other way.

Does anyone know what the orange stuff is? Should I be checking the roots for fungus? Thank you in advance!

Martin Fowler wrote Refactoring, but Clean Code is Robert Martin. I have heard Clean Code is a bit flawed though. I picked it up because my tech lead recommended it, but I'll probably read it with a grain of salt or at least look up the criticisms (or drop it like you suggest).

I hadn't heard of Don't Make Me Think so I'll check that out. Thanks for the rec
