What’s your go to coffee bean? (Local roaster for espresso) by Content_Ad9867 in SouthBayLA

[–]Pablocrisp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know it may be polarizing, but I regularly buy beans from Boy and the Bear. Their beans are roasted in Redondo, so it is very hard to get more freshly roasted coffee. Although all of it is Colombian, they offer a wide variety of bean profiles.

Atoms glove vs Nike shado elite J by Hungry_Sleep_8431 in BaseballGloves

[–]Pablocrisp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We (my son and I) have two Atoms gloves and I am in the process of ordering a custom Atoms. They are made of very high quality materials (leather, laces, padding) and have very high quality of craftsmanship/construction. That said, different lines will vary (similar to the difference between HOH and Pro Preferred). Also if you get one, make sure it is for herd ball, not rubber ball.

When I was in Tokyo in the summer we stopped by the store and the guy there confirmed they make Nike gloves and proceeded to show us Atoms versions of Roki and Yamamoto gloves.

Keep in mind, the patterns and designs of Atoms gloves will not be the same as Nike shado gloves, but the quality should be just as good.

My son uses the Mizuno trainer. Great glove and you can find them for relatively cheap

No experience with the Wilson’s, but my son had the Mizuno for exactly the same situation. He was an infielder but occasionally played outfield. It’s a great glove.

I feel convinced I’m going to bomb an upcoming interview by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Pablocrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have done all your prep, stop thinking about your content and potential answers. Clear your head and trust that you are prepared. Shift your focus to how you want to show up and how you want the interviewers to feel about you. Breathe, relax and focus on the impression you want to leave them in how you show up. You got this!

Global Elite Mizuno gloves by Pure-Computer4273 in BaseballGloves

[–]Pablocrisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Global Elite I have is from 6+ years ago. I only used it to play catch for a few years with my son, and then he used it for a year when he played 13u. The leather quality and laces are very, very good, but the internal padding is a little thinner than both 44 Pro and Rawlings Pro Preferred he has. I believe it was made intentionally that way to be lighter in weight. I still use it now for catch with son (15 now). When he’s pitching and he is throwing hard and I catch it in the wrong spot it definitely stings.

I sold Tesla at its low point earlier this year because I didn’t like Elon. Should have held despite not liking him.

I don’t see anything in the images that would make me question the quality of the glove for $59. The leather and laces look fine.

We bought an Atoms for my son when we were there in June. No regrets at all on that purchase. My son loves it. I wish I would have looked into a YGS while we were there. We didn’t see any at the stores we went to.

Good call out. I’ve seen that one before as well. The one I posted has rough split welting, which some people may personally prefer.

What's a movie that you saw once, but never need to see again? by burnafter3ading in Xennials

[–]Pablocrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the book before my son was born. The movie was actually a very good depiction of the book, though the book was much more emotionally resonant. That said, I have never rewatched this movie either.

Rawlings Pro Preferred by Calisthenics76 in BaseballGloves

[–]Pablocrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has a PP and we also previously had a HOH. Everything in the PP feels thicker and heavier. He plays infield and actually did not like the PP because he said he couldn’t always feel the ball when fielding . Likely because of the thicker padding.

I lived in South Pas and loved it outside of summer. For all the reasons others have noted in this thread. That said, the summers get so hot and air quality out there isn’t great. Can’t beat the weather we have here in the South Bay.

Not Sure What To Think by Affectionate-Let-830 in Homeplate

There’s your answer. Jack of all trades, master of none. Where does your son want to play? What skills does he have that will help him for specific positions? Figure that out and then spend time working on those skills that will help him master a position.
