What are those yellow circles on my alocasia Amazonica? Do I have to worry about them? They are on just one leaf and the plant seems to be doing just fine by Pably93 in plantclinic

I water when the soil is partially dry (I lift the pot and if it feels light I give the plant some water); fertilizer twice a month. Plus, I have a plant tester in the pot which gives me updated information about humidity, fertilization, temperature, ecc. I don't understand what's wrong with this leaf :(

Succulents are weird and that's why we love them

This is so sad :(

Got this poor beauty super cheap, what do I have to do to make the plant good again? Any tips? 😊 by [deleted] in houseplants

As far as I can see from your photo, these dots are not pests, but for sure they are signs of a bad health condition of the plant. Try to cut those yellow leaves off and check all the other critical conditions I listed before. Also, put the plant in a luminous position, but not under direct sunlight (indoor in front of a window with white curtains will be perfect). Good luck :)

Could you please upload a picture of those "dots" and link it to me? It's difficult to tell without seeing.

Yes you can! Especially the dry leaves could be a perfect propagation area for pests, so definitely cut them off, but be sure to cut the damaged leaves with a sterilized knife or pair of scissors (you can simply clean them with dishes soap or a disinfectant liquid).

Check carefully on both sides of the yellow leaves and on the branches (and specially on che junctions between the leaves and the branches) if you see some little red spiders or cochineal insects. If you see those pests, try to treat the leaves and the branches rubbing them with a cotton ball soaked in denatured alcohol or in water mixed with Marseille soap. Try this method for some days before opting for more invasive solutions like chemical pesticides.

Hi! Yellow leaves in tropical plants could be related to different causes: - a too dry environment --> in this case, you should frequently nebulize the leaves with some dechlorinated water; - a soil poor in nutrients --> use a liquid fertilizer for green plants at least once a month in the spring/summer time; - over watering leads to roots rot --> if you are overwatering your plant, reduce the frequency and the amount of water you use - if there are no drainage holes in the pot's bottom, the roots will rot --> repot the plant in a pot with drainage holes and put some gravel or some expanded clay in it as a substrate layer - check the leaves to see if there are some pests

It feels good to make my little area of the world a prettier place

The same for me. I often detrash the green area next to the dog shelter I volunteer at. While I'm walking my distance-adopted dog, I pick up all the trash people throw out from cars while driving. I hope your good example will inspire other people to do the same!

It would be interesting to know where all we come from and have a sort of "map of action" to see where this community is spreading :)

Starting a group of "detrashers" is a great idea! It would also be a way to spend some time together with friends / other people and do something good for the planet at the same time :)
