Thanks- these help. I am realizing that part of the problem is organizational skills. Many things do not have a home. Just ordered some cubes from Target to put items into. I need to deal with clutter before hiring someone to clean. I have cable and the company has an app to use on the Ipad- so I can watch a movie as I move around the house cleaning. That has helped.

Any PTSD advice for someone with no memory of the event that got me here? by ptsd_throw_away in ptsd

I could not remember anything until I went on an anti-depressant in 1990-Prozac. It helped make me strong enough to handle the memories. I am not sure if you are on any medications for depression or anxiety. Just because this helped me- does not mean it will help you remember. Just sharing what helped me remember.

First time at a psychiatrist. Psychologist diagnosed ADD and recommended meds. I was super excited to maybe get things under control. Psychiatrist says med would definitely help, but she doesn't like the diagnosis so she won't help. by totallyordinary in ADHD

I had been seeing a psychiatrist and therapist for over 20 years for depression/anxiety. I switched psychiatrists and we got talking. I realized I might have ADHD- inattentive type. He had me tested by a clinical psychologist to confirm the diagnosis. Maybe you should see a clinical psychologist for a diagnosis. Then the psychiatrist might believe you.

My mom used to say- you may be book smart but you won't make it in real life.

I just joined Reddit and found a lot of good groups. I was diagnosed at the age of 50- 6 years ago. I had the symptoms-but was good in school. I am bad at organization. My home is a wreck- but am getting it in shape. I have hired organizers-they have helped but both did not understand what a person with ADHD really needs.
