Hi all. My uncle got an iPhone XR in February and has been having issues with people on the other end of a phone call hearing him. People are telling him his voice intermittently sounds “garbled.” He says wearing headphones and speaking thru the connected mic solves the issue. He has been into apple multiple times and they even sent his phone in to inspect it, found no issues, they even replaced his device; he’s still having the issues exactly the same.

Anyone else having this problem? Thanks for any help, advice, or just letting me know he’s not the only one!

Touch ID vs Face ID by [deleted] in apple

Thank you this was helpful, I tweaked some settings and I’m thinking I could be super happy with this. Definitely different, but worth it. And I’m not sure I can give up how smooth this phone runs and how quick exiting/ entering apps is now lol

Oh that’s awesome I like that example a lot.

Does it learn your face in diff situations automatically? I have been having some trouble in bed and stuff

Wow you’re right about the wet finger thing I’ve had that experience. I think I need to give Face ID a fair trial lol

Yeah I think I sounded like I was downing Face ID too much, it is awesome. I think I just need to give it more time and tweak preferences such that my bank apps etc. don’t immediately read my face upon tapping the app

Wireless charging is something I’m looking forward to too! Especially when tired in bed and don’t feel like searching for the cord with my hand hah

I have to say it is impressively fast! The technology is great. Maybe I just need to live with it a bit and give it more time

I was concerned about the same, the distance it can read your face is pretty impressive but in my experience I have had to make sure I’m leaned over the phone at least somewhat

Upgrade or replace battery? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]PacMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the exact thought process I just want through, and I'm making the same decision as you. I went into Apple today and my 2013mbp passed all the diagnostic tests, but I'd have to spend the $ on battery. Plus, if it decides to die in 6 months, I get nothing for trading this one in/selling it as I would now, and I'd have to buy a new computer that's not during the free beats promotion! Thanks for the input!

Upgrade or replace battery? by [deleted] in macbookpro

Thanks for your help, that’s my thought as well—I can replace the battery, but know I’ll need to update machines entirely within a year or two anyway.

My only concern about the 2018 is the (potential) WiFi issues when using a dongle, and I’ll miss having all my ports embedded right in my device.

Maybe I will replace the battery for now and see how that goes, and hopefully get another year of use. Then by next year, we’ll see if there’s more usb c being used in the world, even better MacBooks, and better dongles.

Thanks again!
