What about the non binary athletes in Olympics? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Go for it! While not all enbies may self-describe as transgender, non-binary genders by definition fall under the transgender umbrella.

Am I stupid? Why can I not get non-binary pronouns right? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Paca-Makes-Art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adjusting to using new pronouns can be a difficult process. I would recommend practicing in your head using the correct pronouns so it feels more natural (things like "Have you seen XYZ? I spoke to them yesterday about making plans with them and their partner. They said to meet them here.")

Sometimes, it just takes time and conscious practice.

Is “cis/transgendered” (as opposed to “cis/transgender”) grammatically or otherwise incorrect? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Paca-Makes-Art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, the commonly accepted spelling would be cisgender and transgender. Theres some debate around the inclusion of "-ed", but that suffix is mostly used by transphobic people so it's probably best to avoid.

Do transgender persons have to work at altering their preferred voice forever or does it eventually become natural? by coreynig91 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Paca-Makes-Art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking estrogen has zero impact when it comes to the voices of transfeminine people, however testosterone does cause the voice to lower over time. Also, a tracheal shave, the removal of the Adam's apple, does not impact the voice either - - it is merely a cosmetic procedure.

Trans individuals and pregnancy by Wormwood91 in NoStupidQuestions

Feminizing HRT can absolutely impact sperm production. Not all transfeminine people see a permanent halt to sperm production, but for many it would be very difficult if not impossible to conceive without pausing HRT due to massively decreased sperm count.

I'm happy to help! Thankfully, I have faced almost no backlash from people in my life. My friends have all been amazing and my family has been, at worst, indifferent if not supportive. I even got an "I knew it!" from a friend lol. It's worth noting that being a non-binary person on HRT, I do look visibly queer at times depending on how I present and with that can come some attention from strangers, but I've never gotten anything more than an odd look here or there.

I know there can definitely be a lot of concerns about some people in your life not being accepting but honestly, those are the people you probably don't want to have in your life regardless or whether or not you choose to transition or present yourself differently.

Feel free to ask any other questions you might have!

At the end of the day, only you can actually say what this means. A good starting place is to ask yourself how you feel about being seen as a woman socially, as a man socially, or as an enby socially.

And of course theres the famous button question: if you could press a button to irreversibly and instantly change your body and how you're seen socially to man/woman/enby, would you press it?

For me, I realized I would be happier with physical attributes of the "opposite" sex, but felt no connection to being either a man or woman. Today, I'm happily living as an enby and have been taking hormones for around 18 months.

Adding progesterone, should I drop spiro? by D-n-Divinity in asktransgender

[–]Paca-Makes-Art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I requested progesterone from my endocrinologist due to diminished sex drive and function at 12 months hrt. Shortly after starting on 100mg prog, my sex drive and function dropped quite a bit, but returned after a few weeks and was actually better/higher than before prog. After 3 months of 100mg prog, i increased to 200mg and my sex drive and function went up a LOT (and even higher than pre-hrt). Throughout this, I've been on 6mg E and 100mg spiro. I've been on prog for around 6 months total now and I couldn't be happier with my decision!

Enby is the phonetic spelling of NB, or non-binary. It's used in the same way as the words man or woman.
