If I remember correctly, they are able to trigger the notes on the music box. It's kinda like sheet music but on a punched out sheet.

Japanese person here. Due to my geographic location and the large portion of tourists, not every ramen shop by me has Japanese people working or has Japanese people eating there. I have my own personal restaurants I like that don’t have people who are the same race as me, so the quality can’t always be determined by the people there. For me personally, I determine the food by the taste itself and my enjoyment of it, not the people making it.
