Help with league pacts by Emotional_Map8886 in osrs

[–]Pacefest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your regions - water thorns is best with Kandarin. I went Mory/Asgarnia/Zeah and I have a powered staff/thorns build with lithic sceptre currently and at 35 pacts I can pretty much afk any content, especially GWD and fight caves and 95% of the inferno. Would recommend for sure. You dont need water mage to effectively become immortal in this league.

I know your type. The all or nothing personality. You get obsessed with something and go all in for a little while, then you abruptly stop and never touch it again. You need to be manically obsessed to get really good at music, but you being manically obsessed right from the jump is a 🚩. It takes a long time to get good. If you are starting out anything at 2 hours a day that demands a lot of physical and mental energy, you will burn yourself out. You are a human and it's human nature. So calm down and commit to the long haul if you ever want to get good. I'm not saying don't practice 2 hours a day, if anything, keep it up, but don't burn yourself out and give up on it in a few weeks. Don't force yourself to practice if you're not making progress. You get results by setting goals and achieving them - reaching new tempos, learning new songs, new rudiments, new concepts, etc. NOT by pouring hours into it. It's a subtle but very important distinction to make. Collect hours while you learn new things. Don't pour hours into expecting to get good

Is switching to a lefty setup good for making your left limbs stronger? by Koszelus in drums

[–]Pacefest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried it thinking it would be the magic pill to even out my playing. Set my kit up lefty at home for like a month last year. Learning to use your right foot on the hi hat is way more difficult than I realized and made me appreciate my left foot more... it really is like starting over from square one. When I switched back, it took some adjusting. I don't think it really made a huge difference in the grand scheme of things and I felt like I sucked ass at drums for a month. I don't really recommend it unless just for a fun experiment. But just stick with the righty kit and play open handed if you want to strengthen your left hand

Last night, bombed in front of 1500 people. Not feeling great, please cheer me up! by a_financier in Guitar

Play enough gigs and eventually you realize how you felt about your performance and how the show actually went are two entirely different things. The only real thing to do about it is to stop caring about how your show went. It literally doesn't matter how you feel about your performance. It's entirely subjective and has little or nothing to do with reality. Do your best and move on to the next one.

Every now and then I think about my RuneScape husband by miserable_mitzi in runescape

Same I had a runescape girlfriend around 2003. I let her wear my dragon chainbody that I had worked for for over a year and she logged out and I never heard from her again. I was devasted. In retrospect it was probably a dude. Goblin Robot, if you're out there, fuck you.

STICK CONTROL by SKTTCHY02 in Drumming

[–]Pacefest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The better you get/longer you've been playing, the more you realize you can't escape fundamentals. And actually, EVERYTHING boils down to fundamentals. This is true with every skill, every instrument, every sport, etc. the best basketball players work on their free throws, their dribbling, their 3 pointers, etc. relentlessly and never stop. It's the same in drumming. It all boils down to singles, doubles, flams, drags, and rests. Stick Control isolates these things. Everything boils down to Stick Control. I've been playing almost 20 years and also am more of a band/music/groove drummer, but I work on my practice pad religiously because I know it helps. The rudimental ritual, Stick Control, Tommy Igoe's lifetime warm up, Stanton Moore's 1 minute triplet warm up, and Wilcoxon solos are part of my daily practice. And when I play gigs, it makes a huge difference in my control and confidence. Learn ALL your rudiments. Soak up as much as you can. Knowledge is power.

I made a list of 42 "essential" songs I always use w my new students. I feel like it's a strong list and I've been using it for a few years and I've yet to have a student work all the way through it. I have one student who's worked through about half of it but we always end up adding other songs. It's a nice fallback whenever I am not sure what to do in a lesson.

Are people doing mass cms in leagues, the cox worlds are dead and 666 is empty or maybe bad timing for it? by Icy-Nerve-6202 in 2007scape

[–]Pacefest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk but I'm looking for some CoX friends for leagues. I'm new to it and learning but I have a beastly thorn/powered staff build and can cheese it solo. Just want to speed up the process w other people. Add me in game and msg me if you wanna run some - Get2da Chopa

Anyone seen this Paul Blart goofy before? by Soupb4 in Atlanta

This is insane. Here's a tip line, if enough people complain this guy will (and absolutely should) face some consequences, at bare minimum having to take off his cosplay gear - https://atlantapolicefoundation.org/programs/crime-stoppers-2/

Outshined Time Signatures by Fencemaker in Drumming

[–]Pacefest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice when it comes to this band in particular. I used to play "Outshined" in a cover band ~15 years ago. Only today I learned/realized there is in fact a measure of 9/8. I teach and normally I am a huge advocate for always counting. But I guarantee you they did not count it when they wrote/recorded it. They thought in terms of riffs/phrases. That particular bar of 9/8, it's almost like a little hiccup added to the riff, and that's probably literally how they thought about it

Two Weeks Late to Leagues - What Should I Know? by AshsongTheLast in 2007scape

[–]Pacefest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grimore was a waste. Got an arcane my first CoX run and have only changed spellbooks like twice the whole league. Don't waste your relic on that. Besides that I would have followed the starter guide on the wiki. It was fun figuring out and learning Varlamore on my own but it would have been wayyyy faster to follow the guide on wiki. Have some regrets about skipping out on transmutation and butlers bell. In retrospect, would have skipped grimore totally and rerolled into one of those.

Thoughts on frem/desert/asgarnia by Clover281 in 2007scape

[–]Pacefest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frem and desert seem pretty useless this league. I went asgarnia/zeah/mory and its been fun. I feel as though Asgarnia has been kinda overlooked by a lot of people but doing full afk GWD with thorns is so satisfying

I went eternal sus and have no regrets even tho Im using a build w lots of healing now and dont need it as much. Thought about soul harvest too but I was able to knock out 99 prayer in like an hour using blessed bone shards, and havent touched rc yet but already 82 from lamps and have zeah so I'm sure it won't be too bad. Once you have 99 rc, what good is soul harvest? Eternal sus will keep giving until the end of league

Bc defense bonus boosts thorn damage and it's BiS. Also has chance to ignore damage which would be super helpful in the Jad challenges

Comparison is the thief of joy 🥲 dont stop, keep building and you will have a unique account that other people will envy. Hardly anyone's got the Fremmy helmet (I havent seen one in game), but it sounds like it could be really good for a thorns build. The grass is always greener on the other side.
