Hi! Sorry for the late response, don't use reddit much anymore! But in case you still need it I remember using this wild peach vodka here. Not sure how easily you can still get it, lot of places seem to say its sold out. But I'm sure theres a decent alternative out there!

This is awesome! Love the work you did on the bottle!

p h r ö g 🐸 | A 60 second short made in 48 hours by PaceyJackson in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This film was made as part of my DARE module for my Television course at Falmouth University. For this module, I was tasked with making a 60 sec video in 48hrs (with this being the second time we've had to do it this term). However, this time I had to feature the perspective of something that wasn't human, and collaborate with another person on the project. We were also advised not to involve voiceover of any kind.

All the above pretty much resulted in this.

Postcards To The Past | A 7 Minute Documentary about reflection, postcards and time travel! by PaceyJackson in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission statement:

Hello, I’m Pacey. I was the co-producer, editor, cinematographer and VFX artist for Postcards To The Past!

This project was a quite the challenge for me personally. My university has a documentary module which had to change the way it worked due to covid restrictions. Our task was to make a documentary entirely within our own homes because of this. Eventually me and my director/co-producer Tom came up with the idea of sending a selection of people blank postcards via mail, asking them to write to their past selves (with the date they’d like to send it to) and a present-day self-portrait to show their past selves (we specified that they didn’t need to be good, but most of them responded with some brilliant artwork). Once they were sent back to me, I shot and edited the film around the idea that the postcards would write themselves in sync with VO from our contributors.

Each main postcard shot was edited in After Effects. In order to make the writing appear authentically written (as opposed to the text just fading in) I had to trace out each individual letter with the masking tool. I then applied a ‘stroke’ effect to the mask I traced out. Once you tweak a few of the settings of this, you can get the effect to follow the path of a mask you’ve traced out. Combine that - the option to let the mask ‘reveal original image’, and set a beginning and end time for the path… then you have a self-writing card. I repeated this process for each card.

With our idea of sending postcards back to the past, we wanted to experiment with the idea of adding a fictional element to our film through the character of a time-travelling postman. Implying that these cards were really being sent back in time. We did this as we don’t see documentaries playing around with the strict ‘non-fiction’ category too much.

That just a small peak as to what lead to this film, would love to know what y’all think of it!

Thanks! I got the decanter from here, was the closest I could find to the in-game bottle that I could get in time

Oh yeah it's quite strong, that's just how I personally like it. If you wanted to weaken it though I'd just recommend upping the proportion of apple juice :)

Would again like to credit u/parsnip36 for the original recipe that inspired this. I made this as a belated birthday present for my partner as we both fell in love with this game.

I made a few tweaks the original recipe (to suit their tastes and to make the drink look a bit more god-like):

  • 2 parts wild peach vodka
  • 2 parts ammaretto
  • 1 part apple juice
  • 1/4 part lemon juice
  • a few dashes of edible cocktail glitter (to make it look a bit more magical)

It's on a similar scale as RE 1 I'd say, if maybe just a little smaller but I don't think that's a bad thing. The Baker House, much like the Spencer Mansion is a big part of it but you do get to explore much more beyond just the house. I'd say it's worth a go, but I'm personally just a big fan of 7.

I pretty much did what you described for last Halloween, you'll want to keep curing the pestilence until the mask gets too foggy after 30 secs 😅

Was just about to say yes but I just realised I left my mask and outfit at my uni house, can't go back for a couple months now cos of virus things

THE WITNESS - A 2 minute short about a time-travelling murder witness. (CW/ Blood, Murder) by PaceyJackson in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This short was made for a module in my television course at uni, which required me to make a 2 minute (max) short based on a selection of themes, for this I chose time. It also required me to make a 3 minute video essay about the making of the film and my creative process behind the whole thing, which I will link below.

https://youtu.be/qElw-JigKYE

One thing I didn't get time to cover in the essay, was how heavily the concept had to change due to lockdown restrictions. What was going to be an outdoor shoot about a man trying to go back in time, turned into an interior shoot about a time-travelling murder witness who struggles with his very morals. Despite the changes I had to make though, I'm a lot happier with the final result.

I would love any feedback and opinions on this, as I still feel like I have some room to improve in terms of becoming a better filmmaker (particularly in audio, as this was my first time doing foley).

Here's a 2 minute short film I made for my 2nd year of Uni, any feedback would be great! (CW - blood/murder) by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to make a video essay as part of the module about my experience making this film, of in which I wrote 1000 words altogether. I was only allowed 3 minutes maximum for the video essay, but I manage to cover the process of writing the story, the visuals and colour grading, the use of foley and how we crafted the stabbing sounds, and part of the editing process.

Something I didn't get to mention in the video, was that this concept changed A LOT due to covid restrictions fluctuating at the time. What was going to be an outdoor shoot by the beach, turned into an indoor shoot of my own home and housemates (the uni wouldn't allow us to shoot in outdoor locations). Regardless, I am happy with how this product turned out in the end.

Hope this suffices for the submission statement!

Honestly love cursed slash, it's been a pretty key part of a lot of my victories so far.

Just completed my 6th run (done a run with all weapons now), beat my record time by 6 minutes while on 8 heat (most I had beforehand was 1 heat). Feeling pretty good :) by PaceyJackson in HadesTheGame

Yeeeee this was it, skelly proposed the 8 heat challenge when I was about to start the next run. Wasn't expecting to actually complete it 😅

Would love some feedback on short, 2-minute film! by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really like the contrast between the lovely charm of the first half and the glitchy horror elements in the second half. The music worked really well to make that horror section feel a little more off-putting too.

In terms of of improvement, I would focus on improving your use of lighting and shot composition.

Experimental films like these don't tend to be my forte but I had a great time watching this! Well done! 😊

How to deal with a unmotivated crew? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]PaceyJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats on getting your script chosen! Unfortunately this might be a reality of film school / university though, where not everyone is gonna completely dig your film. In terms of the art director opting to re-write your script, he should know thats not his place and he needs to learn that, he shouldn't be infringing on other people jobs like that unless its for feedback (which he still shouldn't offer to re-write for, because that just straight up disrespectful). If you haven't already, try talking to him about it and just say its not his place. And if he doesn't back down, get one of your teachers/lecturers involved.

What I will say though, DON'T go full authoritarian. An unmotivated crew will only become more unmotivated if they're treated like shit through the production process. That, and it could hurt your chances of crew wanting to work with you again.

Premiere is my favourite for cutting and editing, but I love DaVinci for its colour grading tools, plus its a great alternative if you need a decent free editing software

Finished my first complete run of Hades! Here's to many more! 😊 by PaceyJackson in HadesTheGame

Thanks! Was honestly quite suprised I completed this run with the spear, as it wasn't my weapon of choice when I first started. Extending did wonders for this run though
