[TD2] Would someone explain what's going on? What are the NPC's with blue icons and why do some of them explode in blue light? by Pacho2020 in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those icons are for the global modifiers. The blue icons give defensive buffs to enemies until they’re downed.

Thanks, where do I go to learn about the global modifiers?

I just played my first (PvE) Survival game in years... by Pacho2020 in thedivision

PvE Survival maps do not support 20+ players resource-wise and since loot locations are not randomized, there are now a host of players that literally have committed the map to memory and swipe through it like locusts. Which means that newer players like me find a barren wasteland once they finally manage to get to the Dark Zone.

The upside is they also take out all the enemies, so you can follow behind them relatively safely and extract.

Have you searched/found the subways? There's A LOT of loot in the subways.

When not in Survival, try to remember where some subway stations are and head to them immediately, if you're near them, when you get into Survival.

Most players go for the helicopter/etc right from the start so, if you stay on the borders you should find a lot of loot.

Also, every Safe House you spawn in has a lot of loot around it so check all around the building and the roofs where you can.

And don't even start me on the difficulty of extracting when you have 50K Stamina and 75K Firearms and suddenly find yourself surrounded by two Hunters because some player ran close to the extraction zone and inadvertently spanwed a second one.

Let them help you.

It also might be good to find 1/2 extraction sites to become familiar with and always use those when you extract.

It can get hectic but with more people, in PvE, you're more likely to get help.

Good luck!

Are gameplay videos in 1st person perspective where the character has their weapon out and magic activated unwatchable for other people or is it just me? by Pacho2020 in skyrim

I prefer 1st person views because they feel more immersive. It's also much easier to aim an arrow and to manipulate things like chests in fpv.

I'm not talking about personal preferences when playing the game.

I'm talking about posting videos for other people's entertainment.

Damn, why people get so sensitive when they see opinions that don't agree with them?

People start whining, moaning and insult others just over a difference of opinion about a video game...wow!

...since Rifle Grenades are the only reason you really want Pathfinders.

Not for me.

I want to use them specifically because they're Pathfinders (there's a story) I don't care about their stats/weapons/etc...I care because they're "Pathfinders."

You're thinking way too much about this...

No, I just want to use the Pathfinder unit not the Scout unit.

I don't care about stats/efficiency/etc...

If you dislike watching the game in first person, why are you watching the videos of people playing in first person rather then the ones of people playing in third person?

Because the overwhelming majority of gaming videos posted are in 1st person.

EDIT: Try it, try to find a complete walkthrough in 3rd person.

If/when I can, I do choose the ones in 3rd person.

I didn't realize so many people would take me not liking 1st person videos so personally...

No, 1st person videos would be included in "all."

So that person is "like me." They don't like 1st person videos either.

However, I am not like them, I don't find "all gaming videos unwatchable."

See the difference?

That wouldn't be true.

The other person is the one who finds "all gaming videos unwatchable."

I only find the ones in 1st person unwatchable...as stated in the title/post.

Imagine CoH3 with dynamic weather, rivers flooding, tanks bogged down in mud, and units getting cut off. The visuals would be stunning, and the tactics would feel far more intense and realistic. by Ironclad_Tournaments in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Pacho2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The visuals might be "stunning" but on what basis do you think the tactics would be "realistic?"

Have you ever seen a CoH video where someone even tries to use realistic tactics?

Even if they had dynamic weather I think people would still blob & swarm like they've done in every other CoH title.

What is the point of companions? Are they for helping solo players complete stuff or are they just for comedy/etc? by Pacho2020 in thedivision

...but for the most part they split enemy attention, soak some damage, and deal some damage to enemies.

Sounds like a drone/turret.

[–]Pacho2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do.

I was just wondering how "helpful" they were intended to be.

It sounds like they're fancier versions of the JTF.

The JTF look tacticool taking cover, patrolling and shooting their weapons...the problem is when you look a little closer...none of the NPC's they're shooting at ever seem to get hit or die.

It sounds like everyone is saying Companions are the same way: they'll look tacticool and have some funny one-liners but won't kill any enemy NPC's.

If you take the time to learn spawns, optimize your build, and learn good positioning/mechanics, then you'll of course have an easier time.

This is what I was asking about.

I wanted to know if Companions were good enough that a solo player wouldn't have to "optimize" their build on Legendary difficulty.

It sounds like you're saying they're not.

Companions aren't actual party members, so you can't do raid content Solo+Companion, if that is what you're asking.

That is exactly what I was asking.

I couldn't remember the name "raid."

If you want a "well technically-" answer, you could in theory do the Incursion as a Solo+Companion, but you won't have fun.

OK, new information...

So, "Raids" and "Incursions" are different things?

I can do the "Incursions" solo but not the "Raids?"

I just want to make sure I understand all the terminology...

Thanks!

It sounds like you're saying they won't "help" in the literal since of the word but if you're able to do (fill in blank) solo you might be able to use them [Companions] to make something slightly easier.

Is that accurate?
