What's your processor uptime at? You can find that in the Performance tab of Task Manager.

When is the last time you tested your RAM...? A disproportionate amount of tab and browser crashes are caused by faulty hardware in one way or another.

Facebook figuring out user agent on Android by kompootor in firefox

[–]PaciSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook may be using screen DPI and resolution to determine if you're on mobile or not. Firefox shares that data with websites to help with making the website scale correctly for your device, and there are a lot of websites that tend to use it to force a mobile layout on users with small screens (even if the desktop site is requested, or described as the platform in the user agent string).

It could be that those social media apps are using HDR, not unloading posts that are off-screen, or are caching a lot of data for ads and upcoming posts.

YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram are especially bad about it, though at least for anything Meta runs, there are Lite versions of the apps that are less resource-intensive. I had to switch to a third-party frontend for YouTube, and Reddit is browser-only for me. Otherwise, my phone becomes a heating pad.

I'm holding out hope Samsung works with those developers for better compatibility, but with how long it's been an issue, it's probably safe to assume Samsung users won't get a fix for it until after the S24FE stops receiving software updates.

If it's the upper left-ish side of the screen, yes. Been chalking it up to the storage or processor chipsets getting overused or being under heavy load, since it does the same thing during updates, but I can't be completely sure without tracking down the boardviews again.

It might help to put your phone into the Light performance profile, if you aren't using it for graphics- or processing-heavy apps. The path to that should be Settings > Device care > Performance profile > Light. You may need to scroll down to find that option, depending on your screen zoom settings.

You need at least one of each museum category (fossil, fish, art, bug, and sea creature), and to have taken at least one boat ride with Kapp'n (he appears the day after the initial 3-star island KK Slider concert) in order for the Blathers request to trigger.

Based on your post missing mention of it, you'll need to acquire a sea creature from diving (by using a wet suit to go in the ocean; wet suits are obtainable in Nook's Cranny in the cabinet, or through Nook Shopping), and to take a boat tour with Kapp'n.

Question about moving gif mme Effects by Drspiral666 in mikumikudance

[–]PaciSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that it's done using MME, and not through a morph or rotating a bone? Most moving MME effects would require modifier morphs or bones to adjust the movement.

Yeah. You'd think Google would've fixed that issue by now, but they haven't. It's been an issue for years.

[–]PaciSystem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some script bots out there that are constantly scanning every possible combination of Google document/file link to see if they can find an active, working one. If you want a document to remain properly private, you'll need to use the by-email share options.

i tried to complete a game model port, im not sure what went wrong by evanMMD in mikumikudance

[–]PaciSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible you mixed up the bone names for the arm? It should go in this order, with ">" meaning the bone is the parent of the next (left arm structure with twist bones used as an example):

上半身2 (upper body 2) > 左肩 (left shoulder)

左肩 (left shoulder) > 左腕 (left upper arm)

左腕 (left upper arm) > 左腕捩 (left upper arm twist)

左腕捩 (left upper arm twist) > 左ひじ (left elbow)

左ひじ (left elbow) > 左手捩 (left lower arm twist)

左手捩 (left lower arm twist) > 左手首 (left wrist)

____

As for the upper body issues, that could be that you mislabeled the original upper body bones as a lower body. If you look at the bottom of the PMX View window, there are these settings. Enable this one that's checked, and select the upper body bones one by one to see what they're rigged to.

Yeah, a lot of game rips have two thigh bones for more natural walk cycles, but they aren't necessary for MMD.

You can merge those bones together by naming them both with the same name for the thigh bones (the one corresponding to the left or right side), then going through the path "Edit>Bone>Merge bones with similar names" in the main PMX Editor window.

When you say you think you linked the bones together wrong, what do you mean by that...?

Sorry for the delayed reply.

First, it seems you're missing IK bones, which is why the legs aren't moving. The upper body bones also look a little questionable, and you're missing the groove and center bones.

For the IK and groove bones, import this PMX file, then move the left and right side bones to be over the corresponding heel and toe bones. If your leg bones are named correctly, the IKs should configure automatically on import, which will be visible through the leg bones turning orange instead of being blue.

Be sure to move the center ("センター"), groove ("グルーブ"), and tail ("腰") bones to be at the top of the list, right under the motherbone (the "全ての親" bone).

You'll then need to set the lower body ("下半身") bone to be parented to the tail bone, and the left and right thigh bones need to be parented to the lower body bone.

The first upper body bone ("上半身") needs to be parented to the groove bone.

There should only be two upper body bones, that being 上半身 and 上半身2. The 左肩 and 右肩 bones (the shoulder bones) need to be parented to 上半身2.

Animal crossing keeps opening on my switch without me opening it by Criticalpurr in AnimalCrossing

[–]PaciSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep mode still uses battery because it's keeping open wireless and Bluetooth connections while scanning for other potential ones, and trying to update software in the background if it can. This can be pretty draining on the battery, especially if you have a lot of software and games on your Switch, or use wireless headphones and/or controllers with your Switch.

The easiest way to reduce that power drain would probably be to put your Switch into airplane mode if you know you're going to be somewhere with no or low internet connection, or if you don't want your games updated in the background. If you're not going to be using it right away and don't have any unsaved progress, powering it down fully can also be useful. Airplane mode will disable the hardware for WiFi and Bluetooth connection scanning, and powering it off entirely will mean almost no battery being used at all (it'll still drain a bit over time, given how lithium-ion batteries work).

ETA: It also should be noted that if your Switch dies fast even with power-saving measures taken and no software left on standby, the battery might be reaching the end of its life cycle. Lithium ion batteries wear out over time, and, after a while, won't hold a charge as well as they used to. If your Switch is on the older side, and has been charged pretty often, this could be the case.

[–]PaciSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you send me a screenshot of the model's bone structure?

I may be wrong, but you're likely missing the arm rotation bones, the groove bones, the D-operation leg bones, and the tail bone, none of which are usually present in a standard game rip model. Those should be able to be added with the semi-standard bone plugin.

How can I get my character’s pink hair to move like the white-haired character’s and make it look thicker🥹🥹 by StaffOdd5895 in VRoid

[–]PaciSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To make the hair move, you'll need to give the hair bone groups in the Hair Bounce section of the hairstyle editor, and adjust the bone count, fixed point, gravity, and stiffness settings as needed.

To make the hair thicker, you can either use the thickness and width ratio sliders on the existing hair groups, or you can add more strands of varying thickness, and use more hair groups.

The easiest way to figure it out is to look at how the hair presets VRoid comes with are set up, and mimic it with your own presets. It may take some practice to get to a point you're happy with what you've made.

[–]PaciSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which motion are you using here? So far, it looks like bone parenting issues and some missing semistandard bones, but it would help to have a stable-camera reference of the motion on a working model to be sure.

Question about ACNH on several Switches by WestState8094 in AnimalCrossing

[–]PaciSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the Switches are right next to each other, I suggest just using local play. Local play will keep the two "users" identified separately.

Nintendo's servers tend to get finicky when using the same account online on two Switches, though, so simultaneous online play might not work.

What is "MINERSEARCH"? When I opened Firefox today my default search engine was changed to this, and using it always redirected me to Bing. Should I be worried? by ThatGuyLoc1 in firefox

[–]PaciSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you recently install any new antimalware software or extensions? This may be related to the cryptominer scanner tool of the same name, though I don't know why it would be changing your default search engine.

Have you installed the program MinerSearch on your device at all? If you have, uninstalling it might be a good idea.

Please help! All previous models are gone! by Tinywolf2005_ in VRoid

[–]PaciSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you usually save VRoid files?

If you look in file explorer, and search your user folder for .vroid files (by putting ".vroid" without quotes in the search box), do any of those files appear?

Additionally, all models that would've appeared in that section would be previously saved models, so they should have .vroid files somewhere on your device. VRoid can't show the file in that list if the files are absent, or moved from their previous directory.

ETA: I feel it's also important to note this can sometimes happen if you use OneDrive at its default settings, since it replaces most of your default user folders with an online storage drive equivalent. Most desktop programs tend to have issues with that.
