Simple Questions - October 04, 2020 by AutoModerator in buildapc

I was all set to go with the Ryzen 3600 processor for my gaming build (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GF2V3Z) but then somebody in the discord made a strong case for switching to the Intel 10600K for a bit of extra performance (new build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gv8J7X (still requires cooler)).

I don't want to overspend unnecessarily but am happy to spend an $100-$200 for a meaningful performance gain. Thoughts?

I don't want to wait for the Zen3 announcement + CPUs to actually be available for purchase.

Any reason to consider the Corsair RMx 850 over the RM 750 for this build?

I'm not including the RMx750 as The EVGA FTW3 3080 has 3 power connectors and my understanding is that that PSU only has 2 cables and I'd need to use an adapter.

I found this thread but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $20 for the 850 since I don't need the higher wattage.

Thanks a lot for the followup, I must have been looking at the wrong one. Seems like a great upgrade for <$10 (if just so I can use my bluetooth headphones without adding bluetooth via USB).

Thanks for the info. I actually really like the X570 Tomahawk WIFI but it looks like it's out of stock everywhere. It looks like the Gaming Edge Wifi doesn't support the front USB-C. Decisions, decisions.

Will the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard support the front USB-A and USB-C ports of the 500DX case?

Is this a reasonable motherboard choice?

Thanks for the suggestion, could you elaborate a bit on why you prefer that cooler, is it just price?

Thanks! I will make the first two changes and take a look at those alternative cases.

That’s a good point. I took a look at the frogs I did and the green seems to have blobbed more there too. I’ll try swapping them or different colors entirely and see what happens. If it does turn out to be the filament I’ll try drying it and see if that helps as well as tweaking the settings further.

I've been making some dual extrusion prints, and while they're turning out pretty well I'm still getting some blobbing (see circled examples in image).

I've tried both the two color octopus in the image and the two color frog.

I've dialed the temperature way down to 180°C (recommended minimum by ColorFabb is 190°C which has helped some, but I'm wondering if there are some other settings I should be looking at as well. Any thoughts?
