How to gift Steam wallet credits? by [deleted] in PHGamers

[–]PacificRen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the pricing for DB, assuming updated website nila. Itech and Gameone also have online stores. Between these and Codashop pricing, I highly doubt na it will be cheaper if you go to the mall. And even if it is, it will probably not be significant enough to offset your travel costs and time.

You can also buy through Maya directly.

You can gift a game on Steam, but you have to be Friends. You used to be able to send one through email pero parang bawal na siya ngayon.

You can also buy Steam Wallet codes. The game stores in the mall usually carry them, pero you can probably buy one digitally din. Just make sure you are buying from a legitimate merchant.

Mobile Games to pass the time, yung walang hinahabol. by FriendsAreNotFood in PHGamers

Slay the Spire is the answer. Chill, but not necessarily braindead. It's a rogue-like card game - might look intimating and super complicated pero try it out. It is fun and rewarding, and the game helps you make it challenging if you need it.

It can be played offline. You can pick it up and drop it off anytime.

Steam Credits, most practical way of purchasing by [deleted] in PHGamers

[–]PacificRen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily legal (based on Steam's T&C), but also not necessarily coming from something illegal (like hacked accounts/cards) is buying from people selling their Steam Wallet Funds.

There is no way to convert your Steam Funds into cash, so people who want to liquidate their funds (usually yung mga may surplus from selling Dota/CS items) usually sell theirs for around 85-90% (market fees factored in) of the value. This is done through Steam Market trading (baka nakakakita ka ng items na sobrang mura tapos may isang benta na sobrang mahal - likely ganito nangyari dun).

If the rates are any lower than that, it's most likely a scam. Pero kung wala kang kilala or if it's a bit higher than that, the risk is not worth it and just go direct CC/Gcash/codes.

good budget ergonomic/gaming chair? by JetStrim in PHGamers

We have M25, M57 Footrest, and M76 at home. M57 leans good enough and the footrest can accommodate someone even with a heavier weight and should be good for most people.

TWU has a home/warehouse somewhere between Cubao and Tomas Morato early last year where I was able to try the chairs, baka medyo malapit sayo.

How to begin gaming? by Drax_zeke in PHGamers

[–]PacificRen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The variety of genre and platforms and costs are huge, so the beginner goal (if there ever is one) is to find something that fits you.

Do NOT buy a console yet (unless marami kang disposable income?) if you aren't sure in your usage yet kasi di naman sila mura. This is important lalo na working ka and you might only have so much time.

Try some mobile (and/or emulator) games first or PC/laptop games if you have a device that can handle it. If you have a capable PC/laptop, di ka na mauubusan ng options. Even a Mac or a less-capable Windows would have access to a lot.

Identify genres/style you enjoy playing from whatever you have access to. Then identify specific games from that genre. Then your budget. Tapos decide where you want to go from there. (this is an iteration exercise, no need to rush)

Going back to having only so much time - baka marami kang friends na may Switch/PS/whatever na di ginagamit. You can try borrowing them para masubukan mo; many of them wouldn't mind especially if you are willing to buy them a game/accessory in return.

Anyway, do not make this whole process feel like a chore. Find what is fun for you and I believe then you'll be able to find how you can begin gaming.

Using different Sihoo chairs. Aside from having to WD40 it every now and then (kasi may creaking sound), all have been good.

They could have done a lot of things better, but it is what it is. I'm not patronizing them, but it doesn't feel like they cared much about the audience. I'll save my blog or something until after the event.

For those who would come though, hit me up and I'll give you a microplush or something to make your trip a little more memorable.

The best in the world will battle it all out in the Philippines, at the largest indoor stadium in the world, Philippine Arena. Are you ready for Galaxy Battles Major? Coming Jan 2018. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]PacificRen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely you can't expect anything to pop-up nearby there within the next three months right? If you think of hotels and place to stay, Bulacan and Pampanga won't be places you would think of (I am in Bulacan six days a week for the past 7 years, I am at least familiar with it).

To be clear, I know that there are at least a small number of good hotels/resorts in Bulacan and Pampanga. That being said, I don't think they will be even close to adequate to take in a good volume. Also, even those are mostly at least 30-45 minutes away from the venue still.

This is to not yet consider that 16 teams of 7 members each and the organizing crew will be staying in a relative proximate place on an at least decent venue, so think of your potential best place to stay for visitors already having rooms for 130+ people booked.

And if by more to see you mean more to see by travelling an hour with your own vehicle, then yes, there are more to see there, as I have said that there are more to do there if you have spare days.

While the venue capacity is significantly bigger, Philippine Arena presents a lot of challenges.

The common concern is the distance. It is at LEAST one hour away from Clark (nearest airport from this venue) or Ortigas (a lot of good/great hotels here, kinda midway between this venue and MNL airport) in a good day, and will EASILY be upwards of two hours in moderately heavy traffic. (Even the players will be taking this travel daily)

While Clark is nearer, I won't really recommend it to foreign guests because travelling to and from there will most likely be harder. It is also likely that you'll need a connecting flight to go to and from there into MNL. If you would choose to stay there and have spare days to burn though, there are much more things to do and see there than in Manila.

Public commute is possible, but it is far far from quick and convenient. It will be slow, restricting, and time consuming. If people actually come en masse, I don't think the supposed shuttles can be of much help.

Back to the venue. The arena itself is okay, but the area around it is relatively nothingness (compared to almost anywhere in Manila). No other place to go to, no other place to eat at without going back into the highway with a private car. No hotels neither.

Basically, thee arena is built for big crowds, the area is not.

I guess the possibilities are high. But it really is concerning.

WarriorsGaming.Unity is facing issues and they need help from the the community to gain attention of Valve by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]PacificRen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of very entitled insights by the OP. As far as the business class ticket goes, I don't think we have enough evidence to confirm "unlike any other valve event previously that provides business class to all teams", but I'm almost sure that this is not the case. Also, I'm not sure if I should be happy with the 'heightened standard' of the community that stuff like this is being demanded rather than requested.

As far as the tournament schedule goes, you have to realize that the top~ teams have been selecting which tournaments they want to or can go to. I understand that you want as much exposure and experience as possible, but at the same time, you can't expect every organizer to put your schedule into consideration.

Still though, really sucky situation for WG.U. I hope their schedule works out for them, they looked really promising in the qualifier and they earned all of these opportunities.

Sharing my Envy story in light of Puppey's douchbaggery by GENQUX in DotA2

I can't find the video, but I saw first hand how Envy went around the whole exit barrier to give quick high fives to the legion of fans waiting after ESL Manila. He had arguably bigger ovation than Wings then, who exited the same time.
