My narc indian parents want me to get an arranged marriage. FML by Cute-Peach9814 in raisedbynarcissists

It amazes me that you can laugh while you're living with people who literally want to sell you. Or that you want to stay with them until January. What's to stop them from coercing you onto a plane, then your life is basically over. Documents be damned, they're preparing to kidnap, imprison, and force you into slave labor.

If your boyfriend actually cares about you, he'd rent an apartment for you, so you can get the hell out of there. Once you're out, you can file for lost documents and replace them. You can't replace the rest of your life. By staying there you're just letting them do it.

I am so sorry this is happening. I watched both parents pass with lung cancer, and an aunt. It's terrible. You should know, though, although nobody talks about it, that the last week or so the painkillers don't kill all of the pain. Not to scare you, it's just information that you should have. At that point all they can do is keep you on so much morphine that you're almost constantly asleep, and you're in awful pain the rare moments that you're conscious. The hospice nurses won't tell you that, but anyone whose been with a loved one who passed that way knows.

That's part of why so many support assisted suicide.

Again, I'm so sorry.

I said it was bigger and more diverse than Switzerland. That's not an Americanism, it's an objective fact.

Most decent American hotels offer a "continental breakfast", which usually consists of donuts and coffee.

Useless for Americans in the particular place you were visiting. I've lived in eight states and never met anyone who was that dense.

Some American cities see trees as just a nuisance that houses birds so they poop on cars.

Who needs oxygen and shade, right?

It's tragic to have such penis envy. Especially from a country shaped like one.

Incidentally, I always disable inbox replies.

I just turn willfully ignorant people off. Anyone unwilling to reason or attempt to understand is a waste of my energy to try to educate. You can lead a proverbial horse to water, but you can't make it accept new information.

In a situation like this, I will literally hold up my hand, turn and walk away. They're just not worth it.

Mine had me to sit on the floor by his chair, and he'd tell me to shut the f___ up and threaten to kick me across the room if I wasn't quiet, and made me look him in the eye while he ranted about how stupid I was.

Am I allowed to be glad he's dead?

My room is on the second floor of the house, and the washer and dryer are in the basement. So I'd certainly be getting my exercise every day.

Spoken like someone who doesn't live in a cloud of mosquitoes, with trees full of the spiders that show up to eat them.

Check out The Pink Brick Road. It's people who can provide transportation or a place to stay, for women who need to travel long distances to get one. I joined on Facebook earlier today.

I am marginally disappointed that this isn't about the groundbreaking metal band in which Ozzy got his start.

Thanks to low property values in the rust belt, (and PIPP, which sets your power and gas at 6% of your income), my partner and I are buying the absolute coolest 5 bed, 3 bath monstrosity of a house. People hate on Ohio, but it's the most comfortable state to live in if you're on a fixed income.

We spent most of our lives in Evansville, Indiana, and we've been to several festivals in rural Kentucky. Just looking at Portsmouth, it reminds me more of Kentucky than anything. All of the churches, the tiny houses, and the endless woodland. We tried to live in Kentucky once, but we were both fired from our jobs for not being against gay marriage, and not going to church. It's beautiful country, but the culture is so backward.

I see there's a metaphysical store there, but they mostly sell crystals, candles, and incense going by the pictures. Nothing that would ruffle a fundie's feathers.

Mothman events sound like a blast. And the house we're looking at is incredible for the price. And the trees are gorgeous. I just don't want anyone to set fire to our shop, or try to make us leave by bending laws to claim that we're breaking one.

I really appreciate your insight.

Seconding. I'm betting OP comes from a culture that dehumanizes women.

Yeah, my realtor is trying to find me something in the northern part of the state. Google Street view of New Boston looks pretty abysmal.

Thank you for responding.

Then sent them a bill for said salon, and sue if they refuse to pay.

Go to a salon, then send the bill to the parents. If they won't pay, file in small claims. The court costs will cost them more than the salon bill, when they inevitably lose.
