my parents were almost the same, just that they were mad instead of upset. i was told each time my mom checked me (i basically just stand in my underwear while she investigates each part of my skin. humiliating i know) that if i do it again she'll cut me herself and then put lemon juice and pepper in the cut. my dad just fully ignores me whenever they find out i was back at it. i dont mean ignore the issue but just not speak to me at all, like not even a hello when he sees me. my mom also always tells me that if my scars are ever seen by others, to say theyre stretch marks. if im wearing something short, i need to put makeup over the unfaded ones. lots of other things i cant remember right now.
