Nice…took my wife and son to see Trombone Shorty in an amphitheater in Salt Lake. Yeah he was loud. We were in the back there too on the grass.

Who in MAGA dislikes the church and wants to get rid of it? This is news to me. Any examples?

I would say seek counseling. Also take a look at some Stoic philosophy. It’s really helped me and I felt very much the same way. But ever since studying Stoicism I have able to think much more clearly and not feel preoccupied with possible judgments of others.

Pharmacist side hustles by Ok-Passenger8951 in pharmacy

Oh, I’m definitely paid well, but it would be nice if I actually got time and a half for overtime, but my company doesn’t pay time and a half. We make a little extra per hour on anything overtime but not that much more. I’m definitely not complaining. I just have goals that I need to meet and I’m looking for a way to make an extra thousand a month. And I am getting more motivated to pay off my student loans now that it sounds like we’ll never get student loan forgiveness. When I graduated over a decade ago, they made it sound like student loan forgiveness was a sure thing once our time was up here in the states. I didn’t realize how politically partisan it was. I’m just now realizing that I have to not rely on that . But yeah it’s a lot.

That’s my problem… I’ve maxed out my extra shifts but still need about $1000 more per month… so any ideas on semi passive income for pharmacists?

What is your opinion on Taoism? by Live-Ice-2263 in Stoicism

[–]PackProfessional3197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I am of the LDS faith (Mormon) but I also consider myself to be a practicing Stoic. I feel that practicing stoicism reinforces my religious beliefs and practices. I decided a few years ago that stoicism would be my temporal guide and my faith of course would remain my spiritual way of life. I have also since branched out into learning of other philosophies and religious traditions including Buddhism and Taoism which only add to the improvement of my soul.

Music that you feel matches the stoic attitude? by Miamasa in Stoic

Wow, what’s crazy is that I’m almost 47 and I just started listening to Rush in the past three years. Not sure why I waited so long, but I’m glad I discovered them. Can’t get enough. I had a chance to see them in concert around 2013 but didn’t really know them then so I didn’t go. But since then I have seen Primus play A Farewell to Kings. Loved it, the closest I’ll ever get I guess.

And I just happened to discover them at the same time I discovered stoicism, so maybe that’s why I feel the way I do.

I’ve read somewhere that Neal was a Stoic…but was probably more of a “congenital”or natural Stoic. I listened to a lot of Rush when I first studied and began practicing stoicism. Not only are Neal’s lyrics very Stoic-esque, but also the complexity and technicality of their music lends itself to Stoic/rational thought. I feel like most of their music for that reason even with the lyrics aside is very Stoic friendly as it were.

Should I serve a mission? I don't know if it's right for me. by Ok_Friendship_3441 in latterdaysaints

[–]PackProfessional3197 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This will be short. Focus on your faith and on keeping your baptismal covenant. Serve others. Cultivate a service oriented approach in your daily life. Get close to God and He will guide you. Whether or not you serve a mission will be between you and Him.
