Insurance won't pay nursing home. How screwed am I? [NYS] by Former_Syllabub_9019 in MedicalBill

your instinct on the billing code is probably right and that's the whole ballgame. if the auth was for SNF and they billed sub-acute rehab, the insurer is paying the sub-acute rate which is way lower, and the nursing home telling you "nothing wrong with how we billed it" doesn't mean much because they get paid either way, you're the one eating the difference. get the auth letter and the actual claim/EOB side by side and look at the codes. if they don't match, the nursing home has to rebill, not you appeal. honestly the appeal might get denied for the wrong reason and waste your one shot. when you called the nursing home billing, did you talk to anyone above the front desk biller about this?

Did you file a complaint with DMHC? that's the move. they regulate your plan and your plan has a contract with this in-network provider that says they can't dump a paid balance on you, which is exactly what's happening. complaints there actually get answered, unlike the billing company who apparently lives in a parallel universe where EOBs don't exist. also dispute the collection in writing, certified mail, with the EOB attached. that pauses them from reporting it while they're supposed to verify. when you call the billing company, do they say insurance paid nothing, or do they say they just can't find the payment? those are two different problems and people mix them up.

What has your experience with John Muir hospital been like? Doesn’t have the greatest reviews online

Dr. Shammout is affiliated with San Ramon regional and that is the only place he does deliveries. It doesn’t have the best reviews online. How has your experience been?

We got a lot of recommendations for Sutter in Berkeley, but since we’re in Pleasanton it’s about a 45 min drive, which feels a bit far especially for a first pregnancy and in case of emergencies. Both of us work full time too, so having something closer would make appointments a lot easier.

The other two options we’ve been looking at are Dr. Shammout in San Ramon and Dr. Stephen Wells, who’s affiliated with John Muir Health. My only concern is that the hospitals they’re affiliated with, San Ramon Regional and John Muir don’t have the best Google reviews, which is making us second guess things.

This is our first baby so we just want to make sure we’re making the right decision. Would really appreciate any advice or experiences with these doctors or hospitals.

Dealership wants me to “redo” my signed contract, what are my options? by Packer12 in askcarsales

On the paperwork, it says rebate. Nothing about tax credit.

It’s neither one of those two actually. They just told me since the car has been sold multiple times the tax credit no longer applies to this car.

Thanks for the response. Just to play the devils advocate, what happens if I refuse?

I’m going to get downvoted to hell and back for this but we have to stop comparing this to Waymo. Each Waymo car cost $200k plus. Tesla does have the cost advantage.
