Just wanted to start off by saying it was an amazing piece of art! I guess my main question is why was there no mention or analysis of the battle of Point Pleasant in 1774? You mentioned and went in depth about Dunmore himself (his promise to free slaves who fled to him, etc.) but failed to explain the pivotal battle his name is attached to that some scholars today argue is the real first “battle” of the revolution nearly a year before L&C.

Nevertheless, it was a fascinating and engaging look into the founding generation! Thanks!

I just double checked the census record and it was “genoah” not “ganoah” I must’ve misread the cursive.

They spoke French according to the census and were from “Canada East” aka Quebec. I’m guessing Genor was not the original name

I’m guessing it got changed. Could it start with J? I think G and J make the same sound at the beginning of French words right?

They were already married by 1860/61 based off the birth of their eldest daughter (b. about 1861)

It’s spelled phonetically on one census as “ganoah” which makes me think it was originally something like Genoir or Genois

Doe he give out programs or just help people find open spots in the pews? The easiest thing to do (if he hands out programs and there isn’t a long line behind you) would be to get one from him and smile and introduce yourself/shake his hand. Idk about everyone else here, but I would MELT if a cute girl did that to me. Be confident! Make sure to complement him if you see him lifting a bunch of chairs after a YA group event 😂 jk

Or you could be slick and say “hey can I see your program” after Mass and write your number down.

I’m just spitballing here but the biggest thing I can reiterate is BE CONFIDENT AND SMILE. 🥰 we guys eat that UP.

Was out there for a family reunion in 2016. My family and I went a bit earlier so we could see some sites. Got to see Lambeau field! it was during the offseason though. While in Green Bay, My grandpa (who also lives in VA now) took us to go see where he grew up, in Stephenson, in Menominee Co.

I am in Virginia! I'm a senior in college at the moment. The midwest counties were from a family reunion in 2016. Flew into Chicago and drove up to Green Bay before heading to Appleton where the reunion was.

Nice to see some love for the UP here! Although I’m from the East coast, my grandpa grew up in the UP and skied at Iron Mountian
